Yeah it's hard to feel sorry for you BBC guys, after the way they dumbed down our Tv including so called learning channels.

For the most part I just avoid TV these days, DVR man, catch that one out of a hundred worth seeing.

Yeah, like "Ice Truckers" on the History Channel." I'm cool with truck drives, gotta have em', or no shit in the stores. Their art has been commended as being highly necessary, but who the fuck decided that watching a bunch of dudes driving trucks, drinking beer and cussing each other out over the CB was educational? Or even history for that matter? WTF?!

The History Channel has got to be the most dumbed down channel around.

Murdoch deserves the Pornographer of the year award.

We are starting to kick ass over here across the pond, the reform movement is getting huge. People are challenging this stupidity at every chance now, they couldn't seat a jury, because everyone said they would be unwilling to convict any one on a pot possession, Colorado has already started collecting tax revenue from pot sales, and Maine just issued the first lic to sell Medical.

2012, the prohibition policy will be torn down. States are jumping of the fail train like crazy, the fed has to wake up soon.

Yesterday at leagues one of the guys just got off jury duty and told us during the selection process when they asked if anyone approved of pot just about everyone raised their hand!!
Fuckin' a dudes if everyone refuses to convict for possession or selling pot what good are the laws against?
If they will not let us vote on it, we  will win it in the courts by protest!
If you're on a jury...vote your conscience.

Fucking far out! My hand would go up. Good point; if everyone refused to convict, the law would be a useless limp dick.

On the other hand, the majority of the public consistently in polls taken believes that hemp should be legal and that continual prohibition of this highly useful plant to be stupid, counterproductive, hysterical and based in ignorance; ergo - if we are supposed to be a democracy, and we create laws and public policy based on majority rule, why is hemp illegal?

So much for democracy.

Since when has the majority decided the policy concerning hemp?

I think someone already mentioned this elsewhere: if voting could actually change anything it would be illegal.
I think that was Emma Goldman
I think we all pretty much know how it works. And now with 100% electronic voting...with no paper trail...well...fuckin' human paraquats!

51% Say Legalize Marijuana in New California Poll

http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle/2010/aug/11/51_say_legalize_marijuana_new_ca

Legalization got 51%, with 47% saying marijuana should be legalized and controlled like alcohol and another 4% saying marijuana should be legalized -- period. Thirteen percent wanted to keep current laws, but lessen the penalties (which pending decriminalization legislation would accomplish), while 19% wanted tough enforcement of existing laws and a hard-core 14% wanted even tougher pot laws.

I'm moving in that direction myself. I have met a few people who don't even bother with TV just wait for friends to recommend stuff and buy it on DVD.

Well, I have to disagree on BBC thing. I don't know what it was in past, so maybe compared to that it is dumber, but when I think of BBC it think "the best TV in the world". Just think of David Attenborough - he still makes new stuff, programs like QI, just few weeks ago I watched short series about astronomy in fucking prime time. Ancient World - next thing I watched not long ago. Some of the best comedy I've seen in my life. That's from the top of my head. Do I really have such low standards or are you exaggerating a bit?
Maybe it's like Britons' opinion on UK. Most of people asking me why I came to live here say things like "this country is shit", "can't live here anymore". Get a grip! It's one of the best and greatest countries in the world. You are so used to it that you don't even notice it anymore. Believe me, you could do much worse, both with BBC and the UK.
The Dude abides. I don't know about you but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. The Dude. Takin' 'er easy for all us sinners.

Well that's just like.... your opinion man..... ;)

That is the case with me here in the U.S. Holy shit, they have fucked up TV beyond belief! Nothing but pile after pile of worthless idiotic absolute brain rot! Pathetic puke like reality TV is a cancer on TV here in the States. It's all mindless crap run by nihilist assholes who beliefs in nosing man, except the all mighty dollar of course. It scares me that society supports the shit they produce by actually watching it. A testimony to the theory of "broadcasting to the lowest common denominator" I would guess.

I only watch ONE program and that is "The Big Bang Theory," and I watch that on DVD or download it from a torrent. Even that show, which is funny as hell, is 20 minutes per episode with about 10 minutes of fucking ads, so I don't even watch THAT on TV.

American TV, can't abide it, man. It's an unworthy compromised third, forth, fifth draft. TV executives; a bunch of asshole.

Rev. Gary (revgms)

In defense of American TV, about 2% is good, got PBS, Nat Geo and Commedy Central.

I like the Daily Show, Colbert Report and NOVA.

But yeah, 98% crap.

brother_erwin

I'd like to come to jakubol's support.

IMHO you Brits now and then are a bit too harsh about your own country. Don't get me wrong, don't want to say everything's fine but then you have some fine traditions, habits and - humor!
You don't like pricks and uptightness.
Why was it the TBL was more successful in the UK than in the States, originally.

Also, you have good driving manners, one of the lowest casualty rates on the roads, and: You have Inspector Barnaby ;D

And then last night on uk channel More 4 there was gem of a programme...an absolute peach...a mindfuck of a documentary...called Journey to the edge of the Universe.

It's a couple of years old but it's the first time I've seen it....there's nothing really here that I didn't know before...magnetars, pulsars, quasars etc...but the graphics and the commentary show and tell the story in a breathtaking and mindboggling manner.

It's made by National Geographic and narrated by Sean Pertwee. it can be seen online here: http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/journey-edge-universe/

Trust me on this it's 90 minutes worth watching.

Peace dudes..
