Well this is partly my concern, dude.

I've been told that Indica is better for pain. So if you're going to go that route, i would suggest not buying any sativa, which will  produce more psychoactive effects.

Apparantly CBD (cannibidiol) is what actually give the high effect for the body, and THC effects the brain.
Or at least this is my understanding.

There is most deffinately a mild sedative effect from marijuana, and many medicinal benefits. My ex used to take it and it would help with her epilepsy SIGNIFICANTLY, so much that I even noticed the huge drop of frequency of symptoms to her disorder.

And marijuana has always seemed to soothe female cramps from PMS, 100% of the time in my experience.

Dosage, well that's going to be a trial and error thing.
Normally peoples first time smoking is un-effective, but that's not always the case. There is also the matter of how you're going to be taking it in form, pill, food, or smoking. That will make a difference obviously.

It is pretty easily digested, with no side effects other than mild nausea. So if you want to be totally safe you can make it into a butter and add it to some chocolate or what have you.

In all honesty, if her chronic pain is serious, and she can't take pharmacutical pain killers, weed may be her best option.
