;D 8)  Dude to the bone:

The central character is Ignatius J. Reilly, an educated but slothful 30-year-old man still living with his mother . . . who, due to an incident early in the book, must set out to get a job.

I did notice Russell Howard's Good News used a few of these pictures last night on Telly.

When I read this book, I was expecting to relate to the character myself. However, It's been a few years since I've purused the pages of this prize winner, but I do remember Ignacious being nothing like me.

I think I read somewhere that a true lazy man stays fit so that it's easier for him to move to the next couch when he get's kicked out.

Ignacious was not so much a lazy man, but a sloth. And his world view kinda clashed with mine anyway. But I probably would have eaten a few hot dogs from my own vending cart as well.

Anyone notice that Kevin Flynn is back for a new Tron adventure? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVcM-v3BCgc

;) Talk about young achievers (11 year old Sci-Fi novelist): http://www.mmdnewswire.com/science-fiction-novel-caleb-hager-11182.html

wow. 11 huh?  Good for him, I wonder if he has an editor.

I did like confederacy of dunces, but it wasn't something that just blew my mind. I'm more of a vonnegut fan, and enjoy mystery novels. If it's not action and mystery, its things that make me question reality. Plus it didnt help i kept thinking about the author the whole time i read the book, he was a suicid, and I tend to dwell on things like that. He only wrote one other book when he was a teenager.

Yeah, it's a bloody tragedy about his suicide - leaves one with many "if onlys' and "what ifs"; I still think it would help pull any Dude's bookshelf together. Enjoy it for what it is - a fuckin' funny diversion. This may interest you, KM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DsoSl8g22w
