I've not posted in a while, and it couldn't find a thread that needed my two cents, so I am thankful for this little "nothing thread"...

A good dog can greatly enhance the dudelyness of any surrounding. I want to get one, but I'm a big dog kinda guy, and where I live would not be appropriate or ethical to bring a larger animal to live.

That's what this thread is for. I am a dog person also, but since my landlord said no to dogs and my girlfriend is a cat person, I really had no choice in the matter. So cats it is.... for now

I used to be a strictly big dog kinda guy but I have a few friends and family that have some pretty Dude little dogs, changed my whole out look!

My wife is allergic to cats and so even though she is a cat person we are petless at the moment.

We used to have a hyper little terrier ( which she had had for years prior to knowing me) that would spin around like a tornado whenever it got the least bit excited.

Currently watching Office Space on TV and zoning out.

why everybody study like shit so that they can get job that make you feel like shit ?

Isn't it much easier just apply for a job as a toilet cleaner ? You get paid.... and you sleep happily at night .... and you live happily ever after.... all jobs involving taking care of people shit anyway...

Very Epicurean dude. And I gotta agree - like what happened to the Dude, chasing money often leads to a world of pain.

Took me long enough, but I just splurged on the complete ordination kit at the dudeism store. Makes me feel all tingly in the toes.

Good for you. It does rather give one a sense of confirming ones decision to do the ordination bit. I got mine soon after being ordained, but then I had hung around on the peripheries for a long time before making the leap.

According to the site's records (must have folks working in shifts) I was ordained back in 07. I remember being really into the movie and active on TBL forums as early as 04. I actually can't remember when I first saw the film, but I want to say it was fairly early on, but it took a few years to find the necessary means for a necessary means to fully appreciate it.

What got you into Dudeism?

I just dug the concept as soon as I heard about it. The whole Lebowski thing found me at just the right time in my life---when I was about 18/19 and dealing with some personal anxieties and general lifecrap.

I can remember practicing my own sort of abiding, not that I called it that, after getting into the film somewhere between 03/04 I wanna say, before I had heard of it being a religion. I just thought of it as a lifestyle choice---to live like the dude, although as a young fella it was more like an impersonation at times because it made me feel hip---a pursuit I've thankfully given up as I've put on a few more years.

I always admired the laid back mentality of the Dude, and the idea of a guy who's not wasting time or energy trying to impress people but will wear the bathrobe to the super market if he feels like it, and who could stand up to assholes without being an aggressive macho douche with lines like "At least I'm housebroken," etc... Always dug the Dude as a sort of role model that wasn't some unapproachably holy mythic figure, but just a regular guy who, even though he is occasionally very undude himself, keeps a handle on the big picture and always abides in the end.

So when I saw there was a whole damn website, forum, and religion that was basically saying the same shit, only much more eloquently than myself, it just sort of fit like a glove.

Also through dudeism in the last decade I've been able to get into stuff I probably wouldn't have been exposed to, like Alan Watts series of lectures and get into the Dao De Jing (which I had to read so I could understand what the fuck the Dude De Jing was blathering about...)

Mostly I just like spacing out on the rug, or taking a long bath with some trippy music--not personally a fan of the whale tapes, but whatever does the trick. Sorry, rambling.

Decided to dudify my phone today.

I've Dudeified my smell phone as well, but chose the Dudeism Yin-Yang symbol:



The green and purple on the official Dudeism Yin-Yang symbol aren't colors that go well together in my opinion, so I approximated the colors of the Dude's bowling shirt instead.
