China say MS Windows steals personal info

When it comes to stealing personal information I'd say China has some mad skill.
Chinese government has banned MS Windows in all Government facilities because they say it is stealing information.

This tells me that the Chicoms have finally figured out that the NSA compromised Windows. Yawn.

And actually I don't understand why this has become a major story Windows has been doing this to the rest of us for decades now.

I wonder if Linux is also compromised.  True, I can look at source code but I install pre-made debian packages and have no proof they came from that source.  For that matter, there's non-open-source drivers for pretty much all computers (rare exceptions).
