Calling him "The Kenyan" was inappropriate. You're drawing attention to his ethnic "otherness." Definitely over the line.

Say what you will about Obama (especially given the new shit which has come to light regarding surveillance), but I find it odd that so many people seem to hate him with such a fervor. I suspect it has something to do with the greater spread of info via Facebook and other Internet outlets (also the comments sections of certain news sites). How is it that the people who are up in arms over drone strikes aren't particularly incensed that we were lured into a phantasmagoric war under false pretenses by the military industrial complex, led by George W? He should be tried in the Hague. And the Patriot act set all this snooping stuff in motion! I don't think anything Obama has done even comes close to that infraction. Just my opinion, man. Although this NSA stuff has me reassessing that opinion for sure.

So much truth in this statement! I had to interrupt my fine good times to do war because of Bush and Blair and the blatant lies!

I've never hated anyone in my life even them two.

To Caesar Dude:
For somebody who says they've never hated anybody in their life you sure seem like you've got a whole lot of anger and hatred in you, at least from what I can tell by some of your other posts in the forums man, it's all good though, it's perfectly natural to have such feelings. We all do duder, it's just all about how we deal with those feelings man. :)

It seems to me that you just immediately blew me off because I happen to hate somebody (and am able to give intelligible reasons for my personal feelings towards him) but perhaps I merely misunderstood what you were getting at.

I've given you no reason to be ill mannered towards me and I have done my best to explain any & all misunderstandings that may have arose, but it's all good my man. We shall abide 8)
I expressed my opinion and you expressed your opinion, we both got some sort of burden off of our chests and are more than likely calmer and better off for it now. :)

I happily welcome everybody to share their opinions, it's a free country man (at least for now), I will respect your opinions as I can only hope you will respect mine as well. :)
Though I'm woefully afraid that nobody seems to have gotten the real point of what I was trying to say, maybe I'm just not good at trying to explain things or whatever, lol 8)

Anyways, that's all I really have to say on the subject (especially since I ended up saying way more than I ever intended to lol). I bid you a good day & all that follow my fellow dude 8)

Well I'm off to  jiu-jitsu :) Have a dudely day everybody 8)

Anger is not the same as hate or hatred.

Perhaps you're confused? Here, have a read.

I'll say it again. I've never hated anyone in my life!

I don't even hate you but I do despise your views.

i think that most of the problems on the forum come down to an inexact use of words and phrases. this can be exacerbated by people writing in a way that is meant to be humorous but actually get the wrong point across. I think that purple drank doesn't realize that what he wrote comes across for some of us as rabidly partisan and unfairly hateful towards a politician who is probably no worse than his predecessors or contemporaries. Of course purpley is entitled to his opinion. It was the same with Caesar and others in the past - making a heartfelt plea and hoping it would resonate with others when it in fact drives them away.

Maybe as a general rule we should remember that this forum is still a bunch of relative strangers and we should err on the side of caution and politeness and try to keep the emotions and sarcasm (e.g. "The Kenyan") to a minimum.
I'll tell you what I'm blathering about...

Fair enough, Fair enough.
You sir, are certainly correct about anger and hate being different and I concede to your point.
As for the rest of it, it appears we have differing opinions and that's cool man, that's cool :)

Peace, or Truce, or whatever man; I'm not trying to be against you personally and truly meant no sort of disrespect to you man.
If I have offended you, which I presume I have, then I apologize for it my good dude 8)

I must say you do have me curious with the "I do despise your views" comment though.
I only want to preserve the greatness of the America I grew up in and that I love :)

In the spirit of understanding may I humbly ask you what your views on just a few of these subjects are?
Not to pass judgement or anything like that man, just pure curiosity and to understand, ya know :)
If not that's cool dude, I fully understand that some people aren't comfortable talking about such matters while others may be perfectly ok with it.

I would like to believe there's a place somewhere in the middle where people of differing opinions can have a peaceful and civilized discussion about such topics and perhaps we could prove that it's possible :)
At the very least I think I have proven that I can hold an intelligent conversation without resorting to petty or childish antics, which are all to often the downfall of good conversation in this day and age 8)

Subjects such as:
  a) The IRS spending millions on unnecessary conferences while others are being furloughed or having their pay held back?
  b) Obama and his family spending millions of taxpayers dollars on all these overly lavish vacations and trips?
  c) The Umbrella Incident (I have Marine friends/family who were very offended by that)?
  d) The N.D.A.A.'s authorization of indefinite detention without trial?
  e) Fast & Furious (Failed gun tracking program)?
  f) Spying on nearly every US citizen?
  g) Patriot Act Extension?
  h) Obamacare?
  i) Benghazi?

If you would rather discuss it via PM I'm open to that as well, if not, well fuck it man I still wish you a dudely day today and all those that follow :)

No problem, purpledrank. Happy to have you here and very much appreciate your conciliatory tone. Communication can be difficult and sometimes we portray ourselves in unintended ways via the tropes and styles we write with. You've clearly shown that "no harm intended" is your attitude, even if it may have rubbed some of us the wrong way.

Maybe we should make politics off limits here? Especially in this day and age it's virtually impossible to discuss politics without raising hackles and bringing out undudeness.

My feeling about discussing politics is that 1) it's so complicated that virtually everyone is right and wrong about the same topic, depending on how you look at it (not EVERY topic, but a lot of them - e.g. is Obamacare an infringement on liberty or is it a pragmatic solution to a spiraling problem?) and 2) most political discussion is a form of soothsaying - basically asking the question "do the ends justify the means?" and since we don't ever know the ends before they happen, we're all making haphazard guesses based on what we know of history and what ideological principles we buy into.

And since we're not discussing art or music, but things that effect the bottom line of our every day lives, it's natural that our provisional hypothesis will be much more deeply felt and worried about. But think about all the hoo hahs and kerfuffles that have happened in the last 50 years and how many of them turned out to be red herrings (or not?). It's so goddamn complicated and our brains can't deal with such complexities. That's why people turn to political parties or religions - to give them a system of thought to buy into.

Hopefully Dudeism will help people recognize our mental shortcomings and not be so idealistic and sure of ourselves, that we can raise skepticism to a more noble art. That's my hope anyway.

Yeah man, I saw that on there and sent the larger version I made to your email on facebook but it may have gone to the "other" folder.
I also just posted the direct link to it in the comments for all the other people who were asking for it 8)

It's pretty cool that my humble little piece of artwork is appreciated by so many dudes :)
