Hey,

I know that Dudeism is all about everybody being equal. So I was just wondering if there are any gay Dudeists that are around my age (I'm 21). I'm gay too by the way. Maybe we can chat, be friends, and have a few burgers! Our fucking troubles are over dudes! :)

Hey dude I'm open in that sense man, I've been known to mingle with both teams or whatever :)
Keep it simple man, take it easy.

Notions of orientation are honestly a bit unneccesary around here, wouldn't you say? It doesn't matter who you want to fuck, so long as you're keeping with the abidance.

When Dudeness is forgotten,
League bylaws and rules arise;
Then political advocacy and pornography are joined,
And standards fall regrettably.

When you can?t keep ?em down on the farm,
Then carjacking and Karl Hungus appear;
When the goddamn plane has crashed into the mountain,
Fucking fascists will take over the beach communities.
"Take it easy" is more than just a simple farewell, it's a blessing, a well-wish, and a what-have-you.

Well, I think it's good to raise  the issue - we do make a lot of sexual jokes and banter and stuff from time to time, so it's important to underscore the fact that anyone is welcome regardless of their proclivities (Full disclosure: I like to wear funny hats in bed). Some people assume that we Dudeists are like a bunch of lazy white straight chubby American men, and while that may indeed make up a large part of our demographic, I'm sure we'd all love to have more women, minorities, gays, lesbians, and maybe even the occasional accordion player.

I personally have a black gay friend who told me he doesn't have much affection for Dudeism because it doesn't really speak to him as a black gay man. Which I found quite sad. Admittedly, there is a stereotype that gay fellas are fastidious in their dress and so maybe our deeply casual attitude might seem a bit unprincipled to them. But surely the core of what we believe in should appeal to all kinds of people. I hope that will time, people will come to undertand that Dudeness is just naturalness, and naturalness benefits everyone. Although famously gay writer Oscar Wilde did say "naturalness is such a difficult post to maintain." But he was joking. I hope!

Oh, look at me I'm ramblin' again...
I'll tell you what I'm blathering about...

Great points forum dude. Seems to me that this is part of the same issue as a lack of women. Dudeist nomenclature can be either inclusive or juvenile depending on the context. As you pointed to in the abide guide, dudeism is based on semantic playfulness, but when misunderstandings happen people lose toes and wind up headfirst in the toilet.

I always find it's best to just be what you are instead of talking about it.
Personally I am a white semi chubby straight guy.
But all are welcome. If you like it here stick around.
If not it's good to know yer out there takin her easy.
Either way all should just Abide and be what you are IMHO and if you "fit right in here" good to have you.
In any event I'm sure you won't find any attitude here from people.
But the word is Abide.
"Accept or act in accordance with (a rule, decision, or recommendation): "I would abide by their decision".

I'm not typically down with expecting others to accommodate me.
Isn't that the opposite of Abiding?
Not that anybody is suggesting that.
Live and let live. Everybody is free to express themselves and hang or not. It's about freedom.
And freedom of expression.
Just my opinion man.

Far as sexual banter goes are you saying you wish we wouldn't use so many cus words?
What the Fuck you talking about?

Respectfully biker dude, just keeping quiet about your differences is a position of white straight privilege. I think that as the Dudeists who tend to do the most blathering about our beach community, it's up to us to cultivate an accepting and laid back atmosphere.

We have that.
Acceptance is not the same as saying "how should we change in order to have more women, minorities, gays, lesbians, and maybe even the occasional accordion player."
I say common in.
All of ya.
And if you like it, stick around. If you can't Abide then good to have met you.

Changing to accommodate is not the issue here dude.  We're not talking about the bigot who built the railroad. Just to say that we can agree that we won't abide intolerance. I think that we are agreeing biker dude.

That's good.
My advice for making people feel cozy in this beach community is tell them to bring friends.

It could just be me regurgitating what I read about earlier this week, but there are two ways of dealing with new things that incorporate them into our thinking(which we must not keep too uptight).

Assimilation keeps a rigid schema of former experiences, and changes new information in order to fit the schema.

Accommodation adjusts the current schema to incorporate new information that comes to light.

It's like if a child who wanders into a movie theater has a cat, and sees a dog on the screen: The dog is furry, four-legged, and has pointed ears. The child will assume the dog is a cat, thus assimilating this new creature into it's schema that only knows cats.

But when you bring new shit to light, and show that the dog is not a cat, but a dog. The child will adjust it's schema to contain both dogs AND cats.

Many fella's smarter than myself have studied this. ('Specially a fella called 'Piaget')

I guess what I'm saying is that while we cannot simply decide to throw out 3000 years of beautiful tradition, but if we can post the schedule for the next round-robin, then we can FUCKING UN-POST IT!

In order to avoid stagnation, a religion must flow along with the passage of time and culture, tumbling along with the tumbleweeds that arise from the ups and downs, the strikes and gutters of history. They are nossing to us, as we know nossing. As long as there is dudeness in the world, we will abide all those who seek it, and help all of the world to take it easy
"Take it easy" is more than just a simple farewell, it's a blessing, a well-wish, and a what-have-you.

Just stumbled upon this post, and appreciate the question.  I'm not young, I'm middle-aged (42), but I'm gay.  Totally out, and very much a dude as well.  I'm a laid back, mellow guy who lives a total dude life: liveaboard my sailboat, work few hours, drive an ancient beat-up Volvo, enjoy every day and maybe light a J now and then.

You aren't alone, PikaSonic.  Enjoy being young, and most of all - enjoy your fast metabolism while you have it.  Once it's gone...it's gone.

Cheers.
