Well, no matter how phoney that gesture is, I think already the ancient Romans used it - and were probably not the first ones.

The Nazi-movement just highjacked it, so to speak, as they did with the swastika, which was, to my knowledge, just a harmless (at least I suppose so) symbol of the sun - and now no longer is, of course.
Beck and Hannity are, what appears to me, real what-have-yous.

Yes, the swastika was Native America and the Nazis just flipped it backwards and now no one can use it.  Well, Hitler misappropriated a lot for his own twisted agenda.  I, myself, am a huge fan of Nietzsche and that poor sap gets such a bad rap these days thanks to old Adolf.  Oh well, it's a good filter for gauging the intelligence level of anyone I'm speaking with and knowing when to just end the conversation.  LOL!!

Native American? - I thought the swastika was Indian - I mean from the real India ??? Asian-Asian, if that's the preferred nomenclature. But anyway, I am with you on the misappropriation-issue.

Many people over here still think Hitler invented the autobahn (although the first one was opened to the public in 1932) and that this was an achievement if not outweighing but at least.... makes you feel sick to think this thought.

But it brings us back to the movie, does it not? ;D

I got to thinking, and of the Coen brothers' wisdom. It sure is no co-incidence that they alluded to "Kraftwerk" (the real technopop band who had a real hit "Autobahn" celebrating that super-highway in the late 70s) in the context of nazis and nihilists - sorry about the confusion with old Fritz Nietzsche.

Hmm... I had always thought it was Native American but, I could be wrong.  I'm not a huge history buff.  I think you're right about the Coen Brothers though.  I think everything they do is intentional and very calculated.  That's the brilliance!!!!

Thanks UD, but once again those fucks at the bush-league psych-out league office deny me access to the video.

That sucks!  It's some remix by some dude  named DJ Adolf.  It's weird.

@ brother erwin, just curious, Dude: I have uploaded a video to another site (from You Tube) that I know is blocked in Germany - see if it works, man (long shot). http://vodpod.com/watch/5265333-burning-day-dudes?u=cakebelly&c=cakebelly

brother_erwin

Yeah, UD, fuckin-eh, it's blocked. The message reads: This video contains contenst from Sony ..., not available in your country. Apparently, I am living in a partially blacked out country.

Thanks anyway, UD.
Cheers

Bummer about the no play - still, think about all the good shit that lies in store waiting for you (y'know, Dude, when you go on holiday or some such). :-)

brother_erwin

Yeah, will have another go at all this banned stuff next time I'll go for a holiday in the Dutch mountains  ;D
