I've got a pair of testicles.
And some of my work has been described as strongly vaginal.
If that's any help.
What the fuck are you talking about?

A fellow Dudeist compeer and brother shamus, with whom I often share a few oat sodas and a pipe of peace, feels that my personal brand of militant Dudeism goes a little against the grain.
Put simply, he is apparently content in the knowledge that he is an ordained Dudeist priest and feels no obligation to pursue the matter any further. Beyond letting me know when I go over the line. On the other hand, I am fully convinced that this movement of ours goes beyond the mere novelty that some people seem to take it for, and am fully prepared to proselytise when and where appropriate. Am I being un-dude when I do that?
Is it possible that there might one day be a sectarian schism within the church? I sure hope not, I mean, look how that's been working out in Northern Ireland and the Middle East.
What the fuck are you talking about?

I've been waiting for Northern Ireland to breakaway from the Middle East for some time now. The great potato/chickpea schism is just too far a gap to bridge.

More to your point, the best conversion I've been able to achieve, even in the modest task which I've been assigned, is to convert people from saying "what the fuck are you talking about" to "well, at least you're not bent on global hegemony or running Sally Struthers commercials at 2am. Good on ya."

There are two types of Dudeist, lifestyle Dudeists and engaged Dudeists. Lifestyle Dudeists live the life Lebowski, engaged Dudeists promote the Dude ethos. One is not better or more Dude that the other, just two different outward expressions of the Dude that dwells within.

This was something I was working on for Lebowski 101, but now seems like a good time to post it at TLM.

Also, my friend says to me, "yeah but I can't stand organized religion!" So I says, "not to worry, Dudeism is the disorganized "religion".

The_Sleevez

For myself I think everyone has some of the dude inside.  What makes you a  dude is to accept and embrace it possibly even flaunt it whereas others hide or are embarrassed by it as society teaches it's wrong. I feel the best way to spread the religion is to do what most religions seem to have forgotten. Just be a dude and those that get it may join those that don't probably never will. Talk is cheap spout whatever you want it means nothing. Be an example of dudism and that leaves a lasting impression. That's my opinion but I may just be rambling in an acid flashback.

I would add a third, the "Lebowskiists" who confuse the quoting of the film with the actual being a Dudeist thing.

Rev Klaus (my very good friend) is very much a "happy with being ordained and just getting on with his life" type Dudeist. I don't see any contradiction as a Dudeist living like that.

Oh, man, I would never confuse or conflate those two strands.
But sometimes a good juicy quote can really tie shit together.
I'm taking the middle path here.

That sounds awesome, but I just ate. Can I take a raincheck?

Caesar dude

Hmmmm...I spent time in NI when I was in the military...bad times dudes...bad times!

I know you're being flippant but I spent time in the Middle East too.  Some bad times...then good times.

There is a NI connection with the Mid East... (well Libya) ... where Ghaddafi suppied PIRA with arms...this caused me many tactical landings and long shifts on guard duty in many shitty and cold places.

Maybe think before you post Jgiffin dude. I lost buddies face down in the mud because of that shit. And you have managed to trivialise it.

Maybe you need to spend 5 years checking your car for IED's and looking behind you every 2 minutes in case you are being followed. Maybe you need to experience a tactical landing (flying into an airfield at speed then dropping down from 10000 feet to landing and stopping in a great hurry). Maybe you need to realise that NI is not all about potatoes and shamrocks.

I'm pretty sure you didn't think about what you said. But I'd like you to maybe do so now.

Peace.

Yeah, I don't really count Lebowskisits as Dudeists, I tell people all the time we are not a fanboyclub, hell I haven't even seen all of Jeff's or the Coen Bro's movies, I suck as a fanboy.

I do however see one more delineation, philosophical Dudeists v ceremonial Dudeists, but that is a discussion for another day.

I always tend to see them as lay people who are on the right path just haven't managed to travel far enough up it yet.

Like lay Buddhists compared to zen Buddhist monks kind of thing.

You may be wrong this time but you may have better luck next life time.

Shit, man.
I realy didn't mean to stir up a whole can of worms here.
Just raising a philosophical question, which might, potentially, help towards tying the metaphorical room together.
I sure hope I didn't upset anyone, bust up their groove or harsh their buzz.
Can't be worried about that shit. Life goes on, man.
