So I was wondering what some of the newer dudes (or anyone I would add) think it is to be a Dudeist? You are a dude or Dudeist because?

I'm the Dothradude, Dude.

I'm a go with the flow type personality, who strives for moments of calm in the midst of chaos. I bend sometimes, and go against the stream when needs be, but generally spend most of my time abiding and doing things I enjoy without getting too worked up. That is why Dudeism appeals to me.

I will fire out my little quote again. Dude or Dude not. There is no should.

I think I've said before.

I am as I am.

Dudeism is just an easy label to use for other people who need a label to hang on me.

What?... What makes a dude, Mr. Lebowski? Is it knowing when to say fuck it, whatever the cost?

Because I've never embraced any sort of spirituality in the past, but I think most religions are emperor's new clothes, trumped-up egotistical horseshit and often used as an excuse by many to be obnoxious, judgmental, discriminatory and sometimes even violent. Also, I think it's kind of douchie for a middle-aged white guy to suddenly embrace an eastern religion like Taoism out of nowhere. Also, I'm not interested in any of the religious trappings of Taoism and I think Dudeism is the perfect blend of semi-serious philosophy and a thumb in the eye of mainstream religion. Also, I like the movie. Also, I'm a cynical, pessimistic crank and I'm starting to realize I need some form of positive influence in my life. Also, I like this message board.

This kind of works on all of those levels, and I can probably think of a few more...

For me......

Its being true to yourself and your nature. Everyone has a dude-like personality in themselves. It may not be like the one we see as or believe to be "the dude's personality". I think its very personal and individual matter. We all know what it is like to be "the dude" in our own individual (and original) way and in our own world. I would say it is the most easiest and natural form of existence. Just being out there and living. The natural and pathless path. There are no norms. No signboards to point you in the right direction. Heck, there isn't a right direction. But there is freedom and a sense of calm and serene satisfaction that comes along.

And anyone who follows that path is a dude in my opinion.

cheers to all...

Dudeism is just a word, another one of the ten thousand things, just another label as pointed out earlier.

Labels are bullshit, but you know that, so if you know that, and I know that, why are we here?

Because, well, you have to do something, don't you?
