Sometimes I think Thomas Jefferson should be A Great Dude in History...

"The beauty of the 2nd Amendment is that it won't ever be an issue unless a tyrannical government takes it away from the People."

- Thomas Jefferson

Case in point........

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control and from 1929 to 1953,
about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded
up and exterminated.
------------------------------
In 1911, Turkey established gun control and from 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million
Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of
13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were
rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
China established gun control in 1935 and from 1948 to 1952, 20 million political
dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Guatemala established gun control in 1964 and from 1964 to 1981, 100,000
Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Uganda established gun control in 1970 and from 1971 to 1979, 300,000
Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Cambodia established gun control in 1956 and from 1975 to 1977, one million
educated' people, unable to defend themselves, w ere rounded up and
exterminated.
------------------------------
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century
because of gun control: 56 million.

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."

- Thomas Jefferson

So, any examples of unsuccessful exterminations because people owned guns?  For some reason I can't see an individual holed up in a house being able to fend off an entire government with a shotgun. I'm thinking it would take a revolution. Then I look and Siria and think... nah, that ain't working out too peacefully. But maybe I'm uninformed and uneducated (...not a history buff).

No, you are correct, Mang; "an individual holed up in a house being able to fend off an entire government with a shotgun" would stand little chance of doing so, BUT...

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

...A well regulated militia would have a good chance, if armed, as referenced in the Second Amendment. Although, "A well regulated militia" that has been disarmed would stand no chance either. It takes both.
