My $0.02 here is that death by guns is sensational news, as opposed to disease, which kills FAR more people. Statistically, gun deaths are very low... outlawing firearms may remove them from law abiding citizens' hands, but criminals will always be able to get them.

Exactly dude.  That's pretty much how it works.  I mean when Colombine happened there was an "assault weapons" ban then.....  Guess what those two actually used?  Just saying.  I feel that its someone using tragic events to push their agenda.  I'm pretty liberal but even I see something wrong when all sides are pulling the same tricks...

Funny you should post that..........

If anyone is in the dark as to why all the gun grabbers (among other silly people) are coming out of their sleazy holes lately (AKA Dianne Feinstein and friends), well, it's because it's feeding time at the pig trough, and Hilary explains the main course...

absolutely in agreement, every dude is 100% entitled his own opinion but I can't even get my head around why you would need a gun, never mind to discuss teaching kids how to use them, that's all I'm meaning.
I appreciate it's a constitutional issue as well.

OK then.

What I'm afraid of is the future. Technology doesn't stand still. It seems to me at some point in the future any kid will be able to print up a WMD on a 3D printer. Or something that would afford action at a distance - like an iDrone. Don't like your teacher? Send an iDrone to his house (coordinates via google maps) and blow up his house.

And don't get me started on phasers. We've already got tricorders (smart phones). Surely phasers are just around the corner.
I'll tell you what I'm blathering about...

;D As far as my need for any weapons in the future is concerned, I got that that problem covered; anyone fucks with me they're in a world of pain! MARK IT ZERO!........

All kidding aside; as far as being able to manufacture a weapon on a 3D printer is concerned (i.e., out of a type of plastic), no doubt that is not too far off into the future. They can already manufacture guns not made with steel that are hard to detect with standard metal detectors, if at all......

Armed Task Force To Patrol Streets fucking with citizens just for being outdoors. Said task force would be in riot gear and carrying AR-15's at all times, stopping everyone they see to perform ID checks and compel the citizen to give a valid reason for being out and about.

Masked Dude

I apologize in advance of being undudely but my Walter is coming out.

I was on a few other forums (even one I paid for). I've already seen a couple posts about Americans & firearms that didn't sound friendly. On other forums there were insanely long threads about the USA and guns, calling citizens all kinds of names and blaming them for 99-100% of the world's ills. I left those forums and canceled my memberships.

If this turns into another USA-bashing I'm gone for good. I'm proud of both countries of which I'm a citizen and in which I've lived. But I'm a bit sick of every tragedy being used to bash my father's side of my family.

I'm glad we can have opinions and discussions here quietly and nicely. But once again in another thread the same questions are asked and I don't see it ending well.

I'm not angry and I don't expect this to change or stop. Just wanted my $0.02 in.

Ok, going to go dude out for a while.

This is a family restaurant, dude, and your opinions are respected. So I would say that staying and enjoying your coffee would be cool. As for country bashing; not sure I follow your drift. I don't see much country bashing, but I do see lots of opinions, man, about some very important subjects. Dudes here are, by and large, very cool people who have deep feelings about life.

So far, even opinions expressed in strong terms, have been in a dude-like more or less laid back manner. Lots of uncompromised first drafts. Not to mention, though I humbly disagree with some postings, they have been posted in open honesty and by dudes who are informed about what they post, right or wrong.

So dude, my point is that life goes on man. Post your opinions, they are held in value. Everybody deserves their place on the rug. Though personally, I try to stay away from the pee stain. 8)

Abide.

Please, Please be careful about making such statements. The guns shown have polymer frames, but also have gigantic hunks of metal sitting on top of the polymer frame. Slides, barrels, and internal parts are all metal, and are easily detected by the simplest of metal detectors.

As for the 3D printing, two guys did manage to make an AR-15 lower receiver (the registered part of the gun) in their shop. It only lasted 6 rounds before it broke, but it did fire those 6 rounds. It eventually broke where the receiver extension tube threads into the back of the reciever. It's only a matter of time before they develop a plastic that can be used in these priinters that is strong enough to take the abuse.

Peace Dude  :D

Of course, you are correct, Sir, that's true; they have items such as metal springs, that's why I mentioned "they can already manufacture guns not made with steel that are hard to detect with standard metal detectors;" there is so little metal in them that they may be all but undetectable. My guess is that it won't be long until no metal is used and they will have perhaps carbon fiber parts replacing the metal parts such as springs.
