Blade Runner

Deckard, a blade runner, has to track down and terminate 4 replicants who hijacked a ship in space and have returned to earth seeking their maker.

Long time fan of the SciFi.
The other day I saw a flick that I had never seen before.
Dark Star. One of the most Bizarre thing I have ever seen.
I wanted to look away but just couldn't. Jaw agape.
It was by John Carpenter the Halloween, The Thing etc...
Basically a bunch of hippies flying around blowing up "unstable" planets with giant nukes.
And the sound track was this old 60's country rock stuff like the Flying Burrito brothers which was strangely incongruous and weirdly effective.
Apparently it's a bit of a cult movie.
Terrible special effects and stuff but it has a very odd trippy feel.
Very highly recommended. It's like the Dude in space sort of.

Dark Star.

It's basically John Carpenters Student film project he re-made a bit later when he went pro.

It's one of my favourites, along with "Silent Running", and one of the influences of the more recent "Moon".

It's from a golden period of Sci-Fi (IMHO)

Also try THX 1138 (a similar student style project from George Lucas)

Yeah those are great also.
A lot of humor in Dark Star.

Is that the one with giant orange ball?

Or am I having a flashback?  ;)

In my collection.Along with Silent Running and Blade Runner of which series 9 of Red Dwarf, Back To Earth, is a parody. The story is also linked to Better Than Life which I think was in series 4.Marvelous.

Wow, I don't know where you dudes find that stuff! (early Lucas & Carpenter flix).  Me, I like the sci fi monsters -  Alien, Predator, etc... Then there's T2 of course.

Yeah I think that's a good film, made better by willis appearing to really enjoy himself. Always a small smile on his face.
The recent hitch hikers was not too bad. The scene with the spades always cracks me up

Great flick; early Lucus at it's best. Reminds you a lot of 1984 and Logan's Run. Also, Logan's Run is a great sci-fi flick.

One that sticks in my mind is moontrap with Walter Koenig. Looks like the idea of aliens tech on the moon was reused recently in the apolo film ?
