--- Quote from: forumdude on May 15, 2008, 03:15:23 PM ---everyone has noticed that the dude has a copy of "being and nothingness" by sartre on his bedside table. but there are lots of scenes with books in the background. i've been able to make out "gorky park", a book on bowling and i think one of the hoyle's card games or casino games books. oh, and catch-22. anybody else notice anything of note? a bit esoteric, i know, but just thought i'd ask.

I noticed that every time Donny bowls, he is wearing a different bowling shirt with a different name on it. I've tried to make out all the different names, but I always forget what I'm doing halfway through the film.

RevWade:
I'd be willing to bet that the dude has a copy of "The Lazy Man's Guide to Enlightenment" by Thaddeus Golas.  "We are equal beings and the universe is our relations with each other. The universe is made of one kind of entity: each one is alive, each determines the course of his own existence."  That is the first line of the book, and the rest of the book is based on that statement.  While I was looking for the authors name, I stumbled upon this link:

it's the entire book online for your reading pleasure.
