I think that Jedd Clampett is the quintisential Dude.  He's happy wether rich or poor, Living in a shack or mansion, he respects and cares for all people equally and has his own ethos which he dispensis liberally to all who ask ( never forcing his views on another ) wether wittling or yakking or using his old rifle. He's a man truely in sync with himself and doesn't let others change his view of himself and life.  The Dude man !
