The Dudeism Forum

Well me and my girlfriend were reading up on Dudeism, and have a question. Does Dudeism preech against there being a God?  Or is God apart of the religen, or just not desputed? Thank you all for your answers as they are very much apriciated.  Have wounderful time laying back and hanging out Dudes!

"Well Dude, we just don't know" would probably be my official position regarding the big 'God' question.

If he, she, or it does exist in some form or another out there, I would most desperately hope that he/she/it is not as big of a nihilist/fascist as is portrayed in some of the major belief systems currently dominating the global scene right now.

But to answer the question, dudeism does not preach for or against there being a God or preach for or against anyone personally believing in any kind of deity that they may choose... As a matter a fact we don't really preach about or against anything, besides just the basic tenets 'Take it easy... man' ....'Fuck it dude, let's go bowling.'   'Can't worry about that shit, life goes on, man..'  'Another Caucasion, Gary..'

I find when I focus on these basic principles, the bigger issues like the God thing, and the whole mystery about what happens after we die etc, fade into background... Many learned minds have disputed these issues before, and many will again assuredly, and that's cool, ya know, that's cool...

But at the end of the day I'd rather just drink an oat soda and abide peaceably with everyone else down here on this marvelous little blue ball called earth and watch this whole human comedy keep perpetuating itself, westward the wagons, cross the sands of time.... ah hell, I'm rambling again. 

Dudeism doesn't say anything about God. Dudeists are free to believe what you want about that - just like in Taoism or Buddhism, which are essentially philosophies on how to live your life but don't make any final statements about the hereafter or the great beyond (actually, they do, but they're normally not very strict about them and differ a lot from sect to sect). If you like, Dudeism can be used to replace the moral injunctions of pre-existing religions. However, most Dudeists tend to be pretty agnostic about the whole God thing and aren't too worried about things like hell or heaven or making Jesus (the 2000-year old one) happy by telling him that they're keen on him all the time. Remember, "it's just your opinion, man" and you're entitled to it. Just don't pee on anyone's rug or flash a pistol at anyone out on the lanes because you disagree with them.

Also dude, girlfriend is not the preferred nomenclature. 'Special Lady' or 'Lady Friend, please.
