I am going to have tender my resignation or whatever to that because even if it was by accident that Kenny Rogers wrote that song and made it into the film, we cannot ignore the significance of seemingly coincidental events. In my experience there's not such thing as coincidence. It's no coincidence that when one plants a seed it grows.

I think there is a lot of deeper meaning in that whole punched in the face knockout dream sequence because that's what led him to the police chief of malibu, a real reactionary.
