I can't imagine the Dude wearing a wrist watch.
But I admit to a love and fascination for mechanical watches.
The art and science of watchmaking (Horology) is fascinating.
Imagine a mechanism that can "detect" when it is being worn on the wrist of a person.
And when not being worn it can go into a power saving mode where it continues to keep time but stops physically moving the hands on the watch face. Then when it is picked up it moves the hands and date to the correct values. Now imagine that it is all accomplished with gears and springs. No microchips or electronics of any sort.
I don't put this sort of "perfection" as being in any way "Dude" but DAMN!
That is some very cool and amazing shit.
I guess one has to wonder if a Dudeist world would have such things.
Or airplanes, or medical science or the whole shebang.
And would we be better off?
It's a complicated case. Lotta ins and outs.
Lotta strands.

well bowling alley has a lot of cool tech to make it run. also, he was a roadie back in his day for metallica, right?

it's not the technology , more how one uses the tech.
calm the muddy waters & you will see into its depths.

Not sure how the dude felt about watches or anything, but I dig it man. They're nifty, do what they do and do it well. I don't wear one myself, but I sure appreciate those who do, cuz they have a better sense of time than I ever will  ;D
