At least in his older years he was. In his early years, he was a bully, hit his wife, neglected his son, moved his new woman into the house, and was pretty much an asshole.

Thankfully he later showed regrets for a lot of stuff. I guess it shows we can be Walter (or in his case, maybe way past Walter and into the Jesus) and then later be dudely.
