"Major Duder
Same date as Buddhist Magha Puja https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magha_Puja
This is the day of the year in which Buddhists affirm their determination to purify their minds of unBuddhist intentions and concerns. Likewise, Dudeists use this time to purify their minds of unDude ones[/i]."

So Major Duder is coming up, this Saturday. Any plans on how you will affirm your Dudeist mind, heart, and soul and purify your minds of UnDude intentions or concerns? Any personal rituals for overcoming your negative thoughts or reactions?

Go bowling.

(this thing is too "sanctified" for my taste, reeks too much of organized religion)

I actually looked into bowling as an option, but there closest ones to me are still a bit out of a way for my taste. I don't drive, and I don't feel like taking a bus for an hour to bowl. I'll probably just stay home and drink for a bit.

Maybe smoke some tai stick, you know. Check in to see what condition your condition is in, man.

I have always stood against using other religions festivals and holidays and just sticking the words Dude/Dueist/Dudeism into them.

I have often written against the general "christianisation" of dudeism, so feel I must also stand against the same thing with Buddhist festivals.

Our roots are in Zen and Toaism, which both set aside dogma and formalisation, not apply more.

All IMHDO of course.

If you feel you have to apply certain days to when your doing Dudeist things then good luck to you and I hope it works for you.

Personally I aspire to be Dudeist in all things on all days. (not that the odd Walter moment doesn't occur once in a while).

Please be assured this is not meant in any aggressive, competitive way, just me sounding out my mind amongst friends.

huh... I did not know that.  Well that's pretty cool.

Can't say I'm one for ritual myself but I'm overdue for some inward reflection and an acid flashback.  Shit's about to hit the fan for me in a lot of ways coming up so thanks for the reminder to stop and take it easy.

I agree.

Take valentine's for example. If you can't show you love someone on more than one day, what does that say about you?

Yeah we have march 6th, but I think the other religions should be left to fend for themselves.

Well, for what it's worth I enjoyed my Major Duder. I spent the day reading, drinking some oat sodas, and just catching up with my thoughts. It was all good on my end and I hope it was the same on your end.

Say and celebrate what you will...but leave alone my festivus! Otherwise, I shall be forced to bear my grievances upon thy visage with utmost vigor.
