Hello all my fellow dudes!

So I was reading the abide guide the other day when a thought occurred...

I've read a lot of the literature that describes the tenets of Dudeism (if they could be called that) and I'm catching both from the movie and the preferred nomenclature that pornography is classified as "undude" though I'd venture a guess we've all been on the consuming end of it, perhaps occasionally the creation end (and that's cool... that's cool).  What I'm interested in discussing is: are we talking all porn here?  Are we talking only situations in which the actors are exploited?  What about in the case of cam models or folks doing it as a natural zesty enterprise while also feeding the monkey?  Some of these popular girls or couples seem like they do pretty well for themselves while using it as a way to support an otherwise take-er-easy lifestyle while seemingly doing no harm to themselves or others.  Or is the principle of the thing what is undude?  Is it the treating objects like women part of it... using it as a substitute for empathetic connection with an actual special lady.  Also is this something that is just like... up to your opinion man or is this a line that you do not... also dude... what are the fucking rules and do we give a shit about them?

Lost my train of thought there...

I'm a firm believer in living the life you want to live as long as it doesn't take away from someone else's wellbeing, that being said I fully support people that want to make coitus their day job. If you enjoy it and you can feed the monkey while doing it then who am I to say it's wrong. Just keep the Treehorns of the world out of it.

Imagine if the line "This is what happens Larry, when you Fuck a stranger in the ass", came (pun intended), from a beaver film! Lolz!

Within the context of this discussion, you would first have to define "pornographic"; one person's "pornography" is another person's "erotica".  I think it would be easier and simpler to say that taking advantage of another person is very undude regardless of the circumstances.

I think that sums it up quite nicely, Rev. Al. That's the problem with the Treehorns of the world, they treat objects like women, man! Which is wrong but if a person wants to use their natural abilities or assets to make a quick profit then I see no harm in that as long as it's their choice and there is no shady producer getting rich off their hard work.

I agree.  As long as everyone involved is a consenting adult and no one is being taken advantage of in the process, it's all fair game as far as I'm concerned.  And, realistically, you could apply that to any career, or hobby, or pastime, or whatever other endeavor people engage in.

I dig that man.  Just left a job that felt more like porn than doing actual porn.  We often forget how similar it can be to sell yourself short for the sake of chasing material things or just trying to get the rug back.

What about for dudists consuming porn?  Is there a line?  Is it undude to simulate connection or jerk off to that stuff (even if it is manually).  Is it just a benign matter of "gotta spank the monkey" ya know?

I don't think it's more of a problem for Dudeists than it is for anyone else.  Moderation is the key and, like anything else, it can become a problem if a person becomes obsessive about it and allows it to take over his or her life.

As far as it being a "benign matter", for men it might not be.  Several years ago the younger brother of my wife's best friend began experiencing pain when he urinated.  His doctor ran a series of tests which cleared him of any venereal diseases or other obvious causes, and while discussing those test results the doctor asked him, "When was the last time you had sex?"  Apparently, he hadn't had an orgasm for four or five years--no sexual partners, and he didn't masturbate--so the doctor told him to get some type of lubricant and to go home and "relieve" himself two or three times a day for at least one week.  He followed his doctor's orders, and the problem went away.  As his doctor explained it, because he hadn't had that kind of release for so long his seminal fluid "got backed up" and contaminated his bladder.  Now, I'm not a doctor so I have absolutely no idea whether or not this explanation is medically sound, but the "treatment" solved the problem so I'm thinking there must be some truth to it.  To paraphrase Hank Moody, "Sometimes you gotta' get the poison out."

I have read similar.  It appears to be a biological need.  Which makes claims of its sinful nature kind of ridiculous.

True but one can technically masturbate without porn.  The dude jerks off manually after all.

Yes, but the Dude never commented on whether or not he looks at or watches porn while he does it.

I agree. I've seen movies rated R or NC-17 or even unrated that got me hotter than anything you can find where there are up-close shots of all the ins & outs and ups & downs.
