You ever see that hard rock thing that Garth Brooks (the c/w guy) did? He had some psuedonym but some of the songs weren't as bad as you'd expect... (That's what I always think about when I think of Pat Boone doing this).

Of course, Johnny Cash did some covers not too long before his passing that were actually pretty incredible.
