The Most Dangerous Domestic Spying Program is Common Core

Earlier this year, revelations about the Department of Justice spying on the Associated Press were quickly followed by revelations that the NSA was collecting phone data on all Verizon, and then all American cell phone, users. Edward Snowden?s whistleblowing drew yet more attention to the issue, and domestic surveillance programs have remained a top issue in people?s minds ever since.

While Americans focus on institutions like the CIA and NSA, though, programs are being implemented which would lead to a much more institutional way of tracking citizens. Obamacare is one of these, but Common Core Standards ? the federal educational program ? is the most eyebrow-raising.

What's that smell, man!? - http://joemiller.us/2013/09/the-most-dangerous-domestic-spying-program-is-common-core/

It's what you would expect from a government that has gotten the message repeatedly that anything goes so long as the majority isn't outraged. Americans have forgotten how to respect or trust their political opposition in the slightest that democracy has become a free-for-all brawl and the people actually controlling the bureaucracies are encouraged to step over the line progressively further. Last year the conservative billionaire mayor of NYC rented the city cops out to Wall Street firms and had them arrest 26 reporters in one day in violation of freedom of the press. Other than the press grumbling into their ties nothing came of the incident and the public looked the other way having no interest in supporting democracy in such a contentious reactionary lowbrow political atmosphere of might makes right even in the courtrooms.

Silent hell, the majority yells complaints about the government being unresponsive and worthless. I told one conservative once that attempting to understand politics without a well developed sense of humor is like confusing a rubber sex doll for the real deal. The original Tea Party tarred and feathered the captain of a ship carrying tea who had nothing to do with the cargo and wanted nothing to do with politics. When the mindless mobs are distracted they have no conscience and the slapstick gets ugly as they deny the rubber doll they love so much isn't real, repeatedly retreating in a corner and biting anyone that comes near, and insisting everybody else needs to leave so they can be alone with their doll!

I think the word "silent" was meant to mean "do nothing." I agree, yelling at the government doesn't do much.

One of the problems I see is the constant dumbass conservative vs. liberal argument. I'm always hearing about how horrible some conservative person is, but the liberals aren't innocent, either. Both of them do stupid, over-the-line shit, but all I keep hearing lately is conservative this, conservative that. I rarely ever hear about some liberal person doing something and them mentioning that he's liberal.

I guess we're falling for yet another line of bullshit.

Edit: This isn't to insinuate that anyone here is a dumbass, but it's part of a problem that I see as Us vs. Them and then we bitch about other issues.

Eliminating all the yelling doesn't help. It's Three Stooges slapstick where they vote the idiots into office injuring themselves and each other, cuss a lot, blame the government, then vote the idiots right back into office to do it all over again so long as everybody denies they deny anything by mocking everything. According to the National Science Foundation one in five Americans insists the sun revolves around the earth and believes Jesus will return in their lifetime. The Three Stooges found religion and then struck it rich and started fighting holy wars over money.

The Tea Party doesn't want democracy and never did if it didn't suit their ideology. They claim to be secular, but almost every damned one is an older white evangelical. Until conservatives decide democracy actually means working together with other people who are not white evangelical senior citizens making a killing off the stock market there is no discussion possible and its the damned civil war all over again.

I put the Tea Party in the same category as the Occupy crowd. They just want to sit and talk and piss & moan, but none of them want to work together. They don't have any real clue or any real ideas, but they sure as hell want us to all listen. They're both idiot crowds, and I don't believe either of them want democracy.

But then, I don't think the anti-democracy is a conservative or liberal ideal. They're both after #1, and fuck the rest.

Occupy started when a nobody fruit vender from nowhere protested the pigs confiscating his fruit and abusing him publically by setting himself on fire. That one dude was the match that lit the fire that spread to over a thousand cities worldwide. Inspiring revolution in Libya, Egypt, and Syria to name just a few countries. In contrast, the Tea Party was started by a couple of billionaires who are still making huge profits off the party and the entire party consists of elderly white Americans and the only thing they've done is royally piss off the rest of the country. The latest republican polls show most people now view their party as consisting of, "scary old white guys nobody want to talk to".

I think you need more myself. Maybe meet some new people....

I don't follow. I need more what exactly?  :)
