MindAbiding

Hi there dudes,

Flying over the ole US of A on my way back from a visit to see family. Traveling home is always a true abiding test for me.  My parents are both pretty high strung and anxious. It's always "what should we do now?" from my dad, and "is your every wish being fulfilled?" from my mom. My extended family lives a pretty materialistic, status-conscious existence, to boot. If I told them all I wanted to do was sit on the deck, drink beer, and not talk to anyone for a few hours, nobody would get it and everyone would be hurt.

I never lost my cool, Dudes, but I definitely needed to engage some deep breathing from time-to-time. Happy to see the family, but happy to be on a plane with the missus, sipping Jack and Coke all the way back to our quiet little home where we abide in our own way at our own pace.

Peace, dudes!
The clouds above us come together and disperse;
The breeze in the courtyard departs and returns.
Life is like that, so why not relax?
Who can keep us from celebrating?

Man that would be hard. My folks are pretty laid back(for the most part anyway) and are cool with me sitting on their deck with a few oat sodas when I visit, but I still find they obsess over really dumb shit(small stuff) sometimes and it can stress a dude out man! I joke with them about it too, like take it easy, man! Nothing's fucked here. Typically after that they abide.

Sorry your folks home is stressful dude, maybe next time ask em if they mind if you do a J?  ;D
"Is this a... what day is this???"

Glad to see you showed some real Dudely behaviour in a stressful place. Just like Judd Dude, my parents are pretty laid back (again, for the most part), but with trying to bring a bunch of kids around, and with 3 different families to visit all in the same town, sometimes in the same weekend, it can also be a bit hectic. But aren't we dudes because we can be in the midst of a shitty or stressful situation, and we can still breathe, find a rug for some slow poses, grab a Caucasian, or enjoy some oat sodas on the deck. The story of the Dude wouldn't have been a story at all if it had not have been for the Dude being able to enjoy a bath and some whale songs between threats of castration and rug micturition.

I definitely like the idea of joking about it and possibly even inviting them to take a couple of deep breaths with you, between swigs of oat sodas, Caucasians, or even a good Sarsaparilla, may force them to calm down. Take'er easy compeers. The more you try make other people laid back, the less you can be. But that's just, like, my opinion man.
Dude or Dude not. There is no should.
