Kool-Aid addicts include Republicans (including Libertarians and Tea Partiers), Democrats, ideologues of any stripe whatsoever, those who believe in one or more sentient creators, those who have elevated science to a pseudo-religion, those who watch television news for more than the weather forecasts, those who are loyal to any commercial brand, nationalists, patriots, and anyone else at all who believes he knows more than he can prove.

You're going to be a modern day Diogenes if you want to find more than a few who haven't got Kool-Aid on their breath.

Actually, this could be said about people who drink a case of oat sodas in an hour or two also.

You just gotta keep on abiding and step away from the computer for a bit. I get into a lot of debates, both religious debates and political, and some words are shared, you just gotta shed your skin and grow it thicker.

Aside from that I learned that I am extremely intolerant of opinions that differ from mine on things like politics. I have been a downright fucking asshole in more than my share of situations to the point where it amazes me that anyone has continued to hang out with me. Then I realized that having friends that I can trust and rely on is way more important to me than my fucked up opinion of what the prez is up to today. It occurred to me that my opinion will not affect any outcomes in any case and I like having trusted friends. So lately I have tried to skip over shit that starts to encroach upon my inner Dude and maintain a positive outlook by way of blissful ignorance. And that seems to get the job done as far as takin' 'er easy is concerned.
Works for me, anyway.

I don't get into political discussion with people who I know can't just play nice and have to have their opinion treated as gospel. My tip on stopping life and people getting you down is to associate with people you like. If someone's an asshole, don't try and argue with them, just don't hang out with them any more because they thrive on the attention, go and hang out with some better dudes.

I feel ya man! Even if you keep a level head and remain polite and accept that people have their own beliefs that may differ from your own, they still just go straight to insulting you and closing off their minds to any kind of rational thought.

I've had situations like that recently where I kept my calm, spoke politely, used rational thought process, and I even tried to explain any misunderstandings in case something I said didn't come off right to others but some people just don't care man, it's their way or you're just a "hater"

Rather than making a valid argument/statement supporting their opinion all it does it show the other persons intolerance, immaturity and ignorance.
