I kinda like this approach to spirituality: it's coined "spiritual atheism".  Good way to roll I'm thinkin'

http://www.spiritualatheism.com/

As some of you know, I detest the concept of monotheism, specifically any old Abrahamic religion. But having experienced some funky shit in my time, mysticism, or at least spirituality is very interesting to me.  Any one else?

I like that website. As an atheist I still have a lot of awe and wonder about all of existence. I may not believe in a deity but don't think it's part of atheism to "convert" others (as I believe theists should not try to convert others).

I was a kabbalist for a long time but felt as though there was something I had wrong. That was of course my atheism. But another book that always stuck with me was a book about the Wu Li monks who mix spiritualism with physics.

Some diehard physicists talk about existence with such exuberance I get goosebumps. When I read some astrophysics books I feel this huge universal belonging like I didn't get with certain other books. I don't worship science or nature. I just love reading about & imagining this vast and beautiful Earth and universe of ours.

So all will be reading more on that website. Thanks for the link.

like the site and agree with the overall sentiment, just not sure classifying yourself with something you don't believe in is very healthy and give a bit too much credence :-) to the theists, I don't believe penguins rule the universe either but I'm not an apenguinist.

Generally, Spiritual Atheists are people who do not believe in a literal "God" (thus the term "Atheist"), but still consider themselves to be (often deeply) "Spiritual" people.

There is no consensus among Spiritual Atheists regarding the literal existence of one's own "spirit" or a collective "spirit"; however, there is consensus that if any "spirit" does exist, it is not external to the universe and it is not "supernatural".

Spiritual Atheists believe that nothing that exists or happens violates the nature of the universe; they believe that all such things only further define the nature of the universe.

For Spiritual Atheists, being "spiritual" means (at the very least) to nurture thoughts, words, and actions that are in harmony with the idea that the entire universe is, in some way, connected; even if only by the mysterious flow of cause and effect at every scale.

Welp, that about does her, wraps her all up.
I guess that's the way the whole durned human

I consider myself a pantheist, but without the hard core devotion to science that some have. The scientific method, while at times useful, is entirely too limited for grokking just exactly what the fuck is going on here.
I'm just gone, man, totally fucking gone.
