You guys ever hear of Rodriguez? I just heard about him on some news show this week.  Amazing musician man!  There were these huge urban legends about him dying and committing suicide on stage.  Dude simply disappeared and his music apparently became very popular.  In Africa, specifically South Africa he is a huge icon.  They found him still alive and working as a day laborer in Detroit, and now he is doing shows and is one of the most humble dudes I have ever heard of.  It's crazy.

I have a lot of South African friends in L.A. and they always went on and on about the Rodriguez fellow whom I assumed was from South Africa because no one I knew ever heard about him other than South Africans. They were crazy about him. Apparently it was some sort of fluke that his music even got there. I don't remember the story. Anyway, nice that he's back playing again. His voice reminds me a bit of Nick Drake mixed with Jose Feliciano.

Just maybe.  Watching his interview you can see how humble this guy is. He isn't even talking like he is spending the money that he just started making on himself.  Someone I would love to meet.

No flash,no stage gimmicks,just a dude in a flannel shirt,with a battered old strat..
I love his passion.
Dont get me wrong,I love Eric Clapton as well,but in my humble opinion,Clapton was never fit to carry Rorys extra strings.
There is a statue to Rory in his home town of Cork,and a Rory fest every year..much loved,and very much missed..R.I.P..you were taken much too young,Rory.
