Let me just say that I am not without my issues, one of which is fighting depression..
I found a website,Md Junction, that is billed as a very helpful place, that you can go to to find support, and caring.
These people are way over the line,man....I have had 2 accounts BANNED there, when I thought to disagree,or voice an opinion..
Lat thing I did there was post a link to this video..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNXRpDc_RRA
This got me banned,man...it was my take on my feelings of things I have been thru.
They are a bunch of fucking Nazis,is what I think...if you want help,or support, dont go there...you can talk to me....I will respond, and Im not a fucking amateur!

Well Stever, welcome to our little beach party. Grab a rug and an oat soda!

The central thing about Dudeism is taking it easy, and not pissing on anyone's rug. I fought depression too, but have found a regimen of different things that have made a massive difference. Personally, when I used to be in the dumps, I needed to rant and express myself just like you, but what actually helped me in the end was positive, reassuring stimuli. I can understand their need to minimize the dark, negative import of that video. Vengeance and murder aren't at the top of the list for helping depressed people, so it may have been a bit of a mis-judgement to share it with a gang of depressed people! Just sayin'!

I feel your pain - take'r easy dude!

Stever

Yeah,maybe not dudeish,that video,but strangely,I dig it,you know?
Maybe wrong to share it with bummed out people like me...makes me wonder now..uhh..why does that video make me feel good?
Am I the human paraquat here? Was I over the line?
Damn...Im marking myself a zero now!
Thanks for helping me get my head around this...

Hominid

No sweat dude. The video makes you feel good in the way all music makes us feel good: it's expressing our emotions FOR us...  in a way we personally can't (or won't).  Same way we cheer for a hero with fist pumps...

You may have been over the line in that one situation, but hey - life's a university.  I think your only mistake was not realizing how they'd misunderstand you... It's obvious to me the video helps you express, and that's vital.  I guess it's just about learning where you can let your hair down; where to be "economical" with the truth!  You'll find this group of dudes very supportive, very easy going, intellectual, fun, and.. - and... um - well dang, lost my train of thought there...

Take it easy on yourself dude.

Stever

You made my day,dude..thanks for understanding!
You are right..I did not think how I would be misunderstood-we all have our own ways of seeing things, and to me,I well, wasnt thinking of how I could offend folks ..I dunno,man..I grew up with Alice Coopers music, and I saw it as,well..theater,tongue-in cheek humor, and a positive take on the human paraquats  who try and bring me down..well..shit,Im blathering on here..I didnt mean to piss on anyone's rug..hell..I need a beverage now..I make one hell of a white Russian...care to join me?

cckeiser

Yo Stever dude...what is your depression like? How does it start?
I have never been in a depression that I can remember....have no idea what one must be like.
I do  get into what I call "funks" from time to time where I feel no one understands me and everything I have done or written is just one big waste of time. Some times my funks can be a bit destructive and I delete shit that I later regret deleting, but for the most part my funks are mild and short lived. (Too much ego on my part i guess!) 8)
I do not know if it will help anyone else, but remembering that the only purpose of life is to live it usually helps getting out of my funk.
How does your depressions work? What helps to get you out of them?

Hey,I dont want to be a bummer,dudes,but I am recovering from brain surgery..and as a result,I have a laundry-list of shit going on..seizures,dizziness,shakes,numbness,pain,memory loss,speech problems...of course i am unable to work,and fuck it,dude,I cant even go bowling!
Soo...the shit gets to me,you know?
Its a fucking bummer.
Music gets me out of it,or just talking to good folks like you...depression is hard to explain...its like seeing all your friends die face down in the muck, and you cant do shit...i dunno...
Well,I am rambling again...

Hominid

No judgement from us dude - thanks for the background. IOW, it's no bummer. Some others here share their raw suffering, and it ain't pretty what some have to deal with.  You're in good company.

Like keiser dude, we can all get a bit nihilistic at times, like "What's it all for?"  But for you dude, your surgery is recent (from the sounds of it), and the brain is very plastic in it's ability to recover and stay limber.  That said, bouts of depression are often chemical, so help in that area can be of benefit. Everyone has to find what works for them. Talk is good, in a supportive environment. Pharmaceuticals can be good. Certain herbs work wonders as well.

Smoke'm if you got'm !!!  ;)

I take 2 caps of rhodalia rosea a day. Works fucking wonders on me - I haven't been in a funk for 2 years.  Sorta like St. John's Wort, but much better. But that's me...

Stever

White Russians do wonders for me!
Surgery for me was in 2011//long road back,man...one of the "side effects"LOL..is a real change in my basic personality..thats no joke....I used to be so much more dude-like..now I am alot more like Walter..
this aggression in myself will not stand!...It can play hell with your family life, when you are over the line, without anyone (myself included)knowing why I cant just take it easy...!

I was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2010...went through 7 weeks of chemo and 7 weeks of radiation. I'm cancer free now dude, but I think it was my Idealism philosophy that really pulled me through it all....the power of positive thinking and all that dude.
The thing is....with lung cancer...can't even smoke it even if I could get it....could eat it though! 8)
Maybe one of these days J's will be legal. Until then dudes....abide.

I am glad to hear  you are cancer-free! fuckin A!! way to go!
We all have to abide..,knowing that this whole human comedy will just keep on perpetuating itself..wait..I kinda lost my train of thought there.,but.knowing dudes like you are out there,well..I take comfort in that!
Lung cancer is truly a worthy adversary, and YOU WON,DUDE!!
