Imam held in Pakistan blasphemy case

So some shit-for-brains planted a page from the fucking Koran that was burnt and a female form (the girl has a mental age of less than 14) gets arrested and faces the death penalty for so-called "blasphemy." Then the cops find out it was planted and they arrest an "Imam" who witnesses say did it. Damn, I'll bet allah is totally pissed at them both, so much so he wants them dead by hanging. As far as I can tell, their "allah" is not too bright and missing a loaf or two shy of a whole brain.

"Her father has said he fears for his daughter's life and for the safety of his family. He has called on Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to pardon her.

Rimsha's parents have been taken into protective custody following threats, and many other Christian families have fled the neighbourhood."

Don't these barbarians have anything better to do, like taking care of each other and building a free, decent and democratic country? DIPSHITS!!!

Why are Pakistan's blasphemy laws in the news? ............

The laws have been contentious since the formation of Pakistan in 1947, but have been especially in the spotlight since a Christian mother-of-five, Asia Bibi, was sentenced to death in November 2010 for insulting the Prophet Muhammad. The following January Punjab Governor Salman Taseer - a prominent critic of the law - was assassinated by his bodyguard. The assassination divided Pakistan, with some hailing his killer as a hero. In March 2011 Religious Minorities Minister Shahbaz Bhatti was shot dead in Islamabad.

A Daniel Dennett quote: "When someone believes they are the mouthpiece of supernatural imperatives - when such a mission inflames him, it is only natural that he should stand beyond all merely reasonable standards of judgement. He feels that he is himself sanctified by his mission, that he is himself a type of a higher order.  He has determined the meaning of 'true' and 'not true'. "

Religion sucks big time. It empowers people to - justifiably in their own minds - perform the most horrendous of atrocities.  Mankind needs a reboot.

What's ironic is that despite the West's reputation for being "advanced", it's actually only western religions that are so dogmatic, murderous and cruel. You'd never see something like this in Taoism, Buddhism, Confucianism, or even Hinduism. Well, actually Hinduism has some pretty heavy shit in it. But that's usually a result of outside influences. This western religious emphasis on "fundamental truth" and inability to edit the dogma allows perversions like this to take place. And whatever we may think of the Judeo-Christian tradition, it wasn't that long ago that they were burning witches at the stake. I don't think that happened in Asia, at least not by religious decree. But I could be wrong.
I'll tell you what I'm blathering about...

Yes, I should have qualified my definition of religion as any belief that has Abrahamic roots; as you know, they base their scriptures on essentially the same texts. The same God that destroys entire cities, including women and babies. And, being a "moderate" in any of the faiths is just a whimp-out. Either grow a pair and believe the entire Koran/Bible/Torah, or STFU.  That's what's cool about Taoism, or any other "religion" based on its precepts. It's about personal evolution and integrity... I like that a lot.

I think their idea of a bowling alley is to plant some one in the ground and throw rocks at them.

And things here are moving toward that sort of thing rather than away from it.
We have had several legitimate candidates in this election that have expressed themselves or supported others who have similar views on heresy.
Much of the evangelical and dominionist movements are influenced by teachings that actively seek to criminalize heresy.
It's really just a matter of time till one of these asshats make it through. And in "lesser" offices we already have plenty of them. Senators and Congressmen.

Romney is pretty quiet about his particular lunacy but that has more to do with the fact that being a Mormon is  not such a great thing for the evangelicals. But the reality is that Romney is not just a Mormon. He's a "uber Morman". His family has always have big influence in the cult.
