Two things...do we ever actually see the Dude roll?  In the final scene, what's up with the name "Art" on the Dude's bowling shirt?  Just wondering.
I do not give such a sum; I only lend it to you. When you meet with an honest man in similar distress you must pay me by lending this sum to him, asking him to discharge the debt in a like manner, when he is able and with opportunity. I hope it may thus go thro' many hands...  -Benjamin Franklin

The dude actually, in the movie, never rolls. We never see him do so. The Art thing; maybe the dude bought the shirt at a Good Will store?

Hi DB, (hope you don't mind the brevity thing), thanks for the reply.  In a brother's movie, I can't imagine "Art" is not a significant intention, but that's just, like, my opinion, man.  Maybe, aw, I lost my train of thought here.  Keep on abidin!

I'd be cautious of reading significance into everything the Coens do.

I know if I was in their position I would seed a few red herrings just to get the geeks boiling over about nothing.

But then thats just my innate Troll nature.

Dude you're knee deep in geeks here. You just have to turn over the right thread to find us arguing the point to the Nth degree.

Welcome to the forum Blue Shadow, just carry on posting it's what the rest of us do without much thinking.

I thought about trying to think once, then I confused myself and watched some clouds instead.
From what is Dudeism trying to liberate us?Thinking that's too uptight.

To what state of being is Dudeism trying to bring us? Just taking it easy, man.

By what means does Dudeism attempt do this? Abiding.

never been much of a roller my self,
I wouldn't doubt that there was some story with the shirt. Thats how they roll. It may have just been something with in the crew. I'm willing to go with the Goodwill Theory. Custom bowling shirts can be pricy. The Duder never had that much money and I don't see him springing for a new custom shirt. League or not. I'm sure he saves his dough for greenage, vodka and coffee liqueur.

He never seemed to have much disposable...that's true...but I tend to think there are hidden depths to his "poverty"....watch the film carefully and you'll see what I mean....
