I'm glad they gave it back to Peter Jackson, he did such a good job with Lord of the Rings.

I really can't wait to see this.

Same here, I'm sure it will rival TLOTR. To date, Jackson has produced arguable the best rendition of TLOTR, no doubt The Hobbit will be as great.

Sorry for the width, but this was too cool to post smaller..........

Been threatening to have a LOTR movie fest some time soon - looks like I have incentive!  The DVDs look awesome on my 42" widescreen!

So, I never actually read the books... the Hobbit was written before the trilogy, right?

Nothing like lining up the 3 TLOTR movies, 1,2,3, being prepared with some excellent munchies, a few oat sodas, a few dudes to hang with, and a good theater system! Fuckin' eh, your troubles are over, dude!

Also, dude, if you want to hear something awesome, check out the BBC's Radiophonic Workshop's version of TLOTR done in great stereo sound. Awesome acting, Star Wars quality sound effects, top quality etc. I have had it for years and it is a headphone treat in the tradition of anything as good as zoning out with classic sounds like Pink Floyd's "The Wall." The sound effects are unreal, headphones on steroids!

There is a mono version out there on the net, not sure why it was released, but here is a torrent to the uncut stereo version (was cut to 30 min. sections for US's NPR - National Public Radio), this is the uncut version.........

It's my favourite book and I'm dying to watch this. Can't wait for the 2012 December :(
Simply a big fan of the hobbit book, just as she was of the lord of the rings.

milnie

thankfully i haven't read the book for about 10 years so i only have a vague idea of what happens. looking forward to it. and thankfully it will be just one film :) unlike lotr where, admitedly after a few bears prior to watching the first film, i was completely suprised that after 2.5 hours there was still 2 more films to go! need to read up on the film blurb next time!
there is only one film for the hobbit, yes? :0
quod tendo non ut pallens adeo in terminus!

Last time we manged this it took all weekend (had to stop now and again for food etc). And I do hope you are talking about the extended versions.

I listened to this when it was aired. I actually still have the poster for the radio series that I sent for at the time.

Was that around 1980? It hit the US in 1981. Loved it!
