:o God talks to David Icke? Holy shit, now we are in trouble! Question...would this be before god morphs into a lizard or after?  ;D

Get it right DB, the Pope is a lizard not god, gods not a lizard duh!

;D

btw found this (another triumph for wiki) while trying to get:

http://www.davidicke.com/

I did find some Icke lizard stuff..

Actually the wiki article is why I love wikipedia, it is the superb amount of work that has gone into such an obscure little subject.

Great wiki article! They even have a cool painting of Obama after he has morphed into a lizard man ;D ...........

And I found this secret shot of the Pope proving he does in fact morph into a lizard...........

And here he is caught in the act...............

...It's just a book, It's fictitious. If you think it's real you need therapy. If you believe it's real you need to be locked up in a loony bin.

Is that Harry Potter or the Bible your talking about there?

And also missed the immense irony in your own words.

Of course they would react like that about a book, when the basis of their entire faith is just a book in itself.

I was going to say that books are the devil's work (as a joke) ....then thought that must be a quote so I Googled it, nothing! So I Googled books are the devils vice (cos I thought that's funnier...especially if he made them) (how my mind works!

Anyhoo.... books are the Devils work ...but God made everything...so he must have made the Devil ...well he must have known that the Devil would make books cos God knows everything...Right?

So I think what I'm saying is all books are God's work.......... if you believe that sort of thing.

;D

Well see now this is the point.
These people self apply the term "Dominionist". In a nutshell they believe that their role is to take control of all aspects of society and transform it to exclusively Christian to make way for the end times.
To say that they have the right is rather beside the point.
My point is I'd rather they don't get someone in there with the nuclear launch codes.
I really am missing the point you are making by saying they have the right.
People have the right to many things that are down right nuts. Criticizing them has nothing to do with these rights. I mean if that was the case then the very existence of free speech would negate all possibility of criticism. Yes people have the right to be lunatics. So what does that have to do with anything?
The fact that we have presidential candidates appearing on stage with people who believe they hear the voice of god is sort of important IMHO.

Quote
In the context of American evangelical efforts to penetrate and transform public life, the distinguishing mark of a dominionist is a commitment to defining and carrying out an approach to building society that is self-consciously defined as exclusively Christian, and dependent specifically on the work of Christians, rather than based on a broader consensus.

The movement currently works with a variety of politicians and has a presence in all 50 states. It also has very strong opinions about the direction it wants the country to take. For the past several years, the NAR has run a campaign to reclaim what it calls the "seven mountains of culture" from demonic influence. The "mountains" are arts and entertainment; business; family; government; media; religion; and education.

"They teach quite literally that these 'mountains' have fallen under the control of demonic influences in society, And therefore, they must reclaim them for God in order to bring about the kingdom of God on Earth. ... The apostles teach what's called 'strategic level spiritual warfare' [because they believe that the] reason why there is sin and corruption and poverty on the Earth is because the Earth is controlled by a hierarchy of demons under the authority of Satan. So they teach not just evangelizing souls one by one, as we're accustomed to hearing about. They teach that they will go into a geographic region or a people group and conduct spiritual-warfare activities in order to remove the demons from the entire population. This is what they're doing that's quite fundamentally different than other evangelical groups."

I mean this thinking is quite literally as backward as the people who burned witches.
How can we possibly be talking about this sort of thing in this day and age?
It's absolutely jaw dropping and the reality is that most people are completely unaware of the influence that this sort of lunacy has had.

Out here we are all his children

Right on BD. Decades ago I had direct experience with evangelicals... some are cool, some aren't, and some are truly wackos. It's them that are motivated to make changes to society, and they're pervasive. And subversive, with hidden agendas. By the very nature of being evangelical, they have a culture that perpetuates their belief of eventual domination. Very undude.

To an extent you're preaching to the choir here I think Biker Dude.

It may be hypocriphal but I did hear that they changed the process dramatically when Ronald Reagan came into office (for instance removing the actual button from the oval office just in case he pressed it by mistake trying to order tea). But I could be wrong.

You have to wonder how many times you can predict the end of the world before people begin to get the idea that you can't really predict the end of the world.
