I was in the audience of a talk show back in the late 80's (The Richard Bey show...it was called People Are Talking, I believe). This was the exact subject matter.

My position has not changed -- just because they're short doesn't mean they don't have the right to self-determination. Let 'em fly!

(Interesting aside: One of the panelist was a midget & offended by the concept. He said "So what if it was red head tossing?" (referring to my Maude-like natural hair color). My response? "For $500, you can throw me down a flight of stairs!")

I'm for freedom, if a midget dude wants to fly through the air and get paid to do so, let it be. Besides, I noticed that they are always smiling as they soar. So who are we to bum out there high? Nothing like getting paid to do what you love doing!

perhaps we could ask the Olympics committee to comment on the sports validity. it looks like some specialised equipment and techniques are required. could also lead to some new injuries, like midget elbow! you try explaining to a doctor how many midgets you have tossed

Unlike golf, this is a true spectator's sport worthy of any Olympic games but thanks of the interventions of 'persons who negotiate a humour deficiency' no professional body has been created to globally organize and fund what can only be described as the only sport that promotes an unprejudiced view of society (even though a British Association of Dwarf Throwers does currently exist).
