Probably nothing new here but i just rewatched the film again... and well

The movie begins and the dude is to be born in a mall: milk from mom at the cash register, dads on tv fighting for the rights of his boy... then comes the batpism, in a bowl !! piss in the carpet... can you continue?

Outer Element

Durned innaresting, dude. Never looked at it that way.

then comes schoolyard, some friends, some beers, a few laughs.  His fucking troubles are over... you?

Outer Element

Well, I was baptized, but it wasn't in a bowl, at least not by dunking. And my troubles still aren't over. Maybe I should wash that rug, or else pick up a new one somewhere...

I meant, troubles off while hes with his friends bowling and beering...  after school (schoolyard) he goes to TBL house, how do you interpret this? His mother does not like his son (i will not blame her at all) and is working  his father is so far away.... why he goes to TBL house?

Sorry dude...I may be a little slow here...but I do not know where you are going here. Whose mother? Are we talking about the same Big Lebowski movie here? ???

;) you know dude, it is the same way all literature movies and such work (probably not all?) someone born (something beguins) at the end someone die (something ends) in this case not the dude... im trying to go step by step... so after school (schoolyard) he goes to TBL house, how do you interpret this? am i being a pain in the ass?

Outer Element

So, is this some kind of eastern thing, like a larger interpretation with possibly Freudian underpinnings? If so, maybe TBL is the principal and the Dude just found out that the whole school thing was a scam. So he goes to confront him, only to find out he's just a big blowhard that can't even stand on his own pins. The Dude was used, but since he figured all that out and that The Man only existed in his mind, he's free. He goes back to his life, no longer in school, but still with beers and good friends.

Something like that?

I never been to the east, and I ain't never seen no Freud in her damn undies as the fella says, but maybe it is as you said some kind of Freudian thing. Im sure it is just one of the interpretations im able to talk about.

Yeah, i agree with you someway... lets say my vision is near yours... i think by the time he goes to the TBL house he is no longer a child, he probably, as he says, went to college, and yes he goes there to confront him... "not trying to scam anybody here" or as TBL says: "You're just looking for a handout like every other - are you employed, Mr. Lebowski?"

The Next time TBL will employ him.

it is fun to carry on with this interpretation till the end of the movie or this is just a plain bummer?

He was born in a supermarket,  mom and dad, batpism in a bowl, school and friends, College...

I don't know, I like the archetypal analogies, but not necessarily the parallel story-telling. My proposition for the role of "get a job" Lebowski wasn't about the first time the Dude met him, but the last, so I'm kind of done with the story-telling part, I guess. That about wraps her up, for me, on that level. :)

But I do see Mr. L as an authority figure the Dude needed to confront as part of his process of "growing up." Not that it really changed the Dude in this case, but as a sort of coming-of-age story, it sort of fits.
