It still doesn't answer any of the main questions though.

Bin Laden was a Saudi Arabian National as were the majority of the hijackers that day...there were two UAE nationals too. Not one Afghan amongst them....so tell me again exactly why the US and UK invaded Afghanistan?

Also on the day and for the next three days there were no international flights to and from the States....oh apart from the internal flights that went around America picking up  several members of the Royal Saudi Family that were living in America... and then flying them back to the Middle East.

While I'm here why did we invade Iraq again the second time...? Oh because Dubbia made it up in his head that Al Qaeda had links to Iraq and that they had weapons of mass destruction.....Resounding NO to both of those statements.....let's see now....the only country in the world to have ever used WMD's is .....wait for it.....yes the US of A. Hiroshima and Nagasaki....and they even got the the second target wrong! They were aiming for Fukuoka about 70 miles up the coast.....

The whole thing sucks. And as for the rednecks who gathered outside the Whitehouse when the news was announced of his death chanting USA USA etc.... they are no better than the hooded crows who sat around the Guillotine watching the French nobilities heads being parted from there bodies....

This is NOT a great day in American history. Just another chapter in a very messy political war for oil.

Extremely undude. And you won't be getting any flag waving from me. :(

Just another quick question: Why do the press continually spell his name wrong?

This from the FBI's most wanted page http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten now surely the Fibbies wouldn't make a mistake would they?

Because that's where he was at the time. And it was where his camps were.
Your point about Saudi Arabia is a good one though. Saudi Arabians constituted most of the highjackers and
Mohamed Atta was from Egypt.
There was even less reason to have invaded Iraq. Well that is if you you think that the invasion had anything to do with 911 which it never did. Saddam Husein was the reason to invade Iraq. And reason enough.

I agree that our closets are full of bones when it comes to the mid east and few people know much of any of it but still I won't cry over the death of an asshat like Bin Laden or for that matter just about any other extremist ass wipes. With him gone the chances for a real peace have increased. Probably not all that much but I'd say we are better off without him.

The burial at sea is a bit weird. And I admit that I've always been troubled by the fact that he denied being behind 911 and then amazingly a video shows up. Very tough to swallow.
I mean it doesn't seem like him to have denied involvement. Seems he'd have been anxious to take credit for it but hey who knows...

That is no reason to invade a country just because you assume a terrorist is hiding there. Most of those camps had been there for years since even before the Russians left....how convenient that now a Saudi national has taken residence we have to go and set up camp there! We knew the IRA used to hide out in Eire we didn't cross the border and start a fucking war!

By the same token the US should now be invading Pakistan as that is where he has been hiding for some years apparently.

The whole thing sucks.... invade Iraq then take control of the oil...invade Afghanistan then stop the heroin/opium trade ..... oh no in fact the supply of heroin to the west hasn't stopped at all has it? It's just being controlled and handled by US Government. Big money!

I was part of the first Gulf war. That was justified in most peoples minds due to the fact that Saddam had invaded poor little Kuwait. Schwarzkopf wanted to go all the way and take Baghdad but was overruled by Bush as he didn't want to upset the Saudis.

There was absolutely NO justification for the second invasion...no WMD's No chemical factories....fuck all! Then the US tried to hide behind the fact Saddam was a wicked dictator.....ok then why not invade Darfur or Libya or Syria or Lebanon or Zimbabwe or North Korea or Burma or Iran or indeed Saudi...there are plenty more oppressive regimes that advocate torture and rape and murder and oppression why doesn't the mighty US of A go get em all with there guns a blazin' and the flag of righteousness flying in the name of regime change.

This absolutely sucks. And yes I am pissed off!

I won't be shedding any tears for Mr laden but there will millions of Muslims who won't take this laying down. This is just the start and I absolutely guarantee there will be reprisals...those little jihad ragheads now have a martyr to rally around chanting death to the infidels!

The plane just flew into the goddamn mountain and yes everything is fucked here!

Peace??? We're fucked.  >:(

My first reaction was ok, good, but then, wtf? Had to purge a bit and put on my headphones. His pic is all over the web like a mounted head and I gotta say this kind of celebration disgusts me. Guess I think killing is for when you need to eat, not for when you want to destroy. My opinion.

Agreed. This sort of celebration is s a bit unseemly from a Nation that (supposedly) prides it's self on the rule of law.
It is ugly.

Far as Afghanistan I can buy the Argument that "it's not our business" but I don't feel bad for invading Afghanistan after 911 where we knew there were terrorist training camps and in the process overturning the Taliban.
I'd call that a win win.
I certainly see it as a logical response to terrorist attacks against us by a group known to have training camps there.
Whether Bin Laden Himself was there or not is not even relevant. Far as I know no one even contests the fact that there were Terrorist training camps for a group that had publicly declared Jihad against the US. In the wake of 911 I'd have to call that justified.

It was their base of operation (Afghanistan) and the taliban "government" was supporting them.

Killing Osama leads to another Osama.

And I agree with the critical voices here,  also I find making a song and a dance about this killing ugly. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be sad if OBL was gone.

However, what strikes me is that both parties involved seem to act following the same set of rules. Take an eye for an eye and a life for a life.... all nicely rooted in the Old Testament which the Koran often refers to as its basis.

Well, what I want to say is that I don't believe that killing Osama has increased the chances for peace. Rather I fear the other side will retaliate. No surprise the flights got all cancelled.

Take care everybody

Well, I'm not happy about the who darned affair, but that guy's better off dead than being turned over to the Pakistani government to be torn apart like the Iraqis did to Saddam, or, even worse, sent to that fascist hellhole Guantanamo (the biggest pustule of injustice in the face of this here Earth right now).  Given the choice, Id rather be shot and dumped in the sea than be kept alive and put in the hands of vengeance.

These are indeed undudely times when such sick celebrations go on in the streets for one man's passing.  What was happening in Times Square, to me, seemed to mirror what happens in the middle east when a hate-figure dies.  What a sad day for civilisation :(

And you know what, I don't feel one iota safer.  I'm still gonna lock my door, look both ways before crossing the street and chew before I swallow.  This whole thing's a lot bigger than one man and fighting hate with hate ain't nothing but fighting fire with fire.

Strange days, indeed...

I totally agree and I think that's the root of my being so pissed off..... where's the fucking dignity in behaving like a blood thirsty mob?

QuoteIt was their base of operation (Afghanistan) and the taliban "government" was supporting them.
The British Government could have used the same argument and invaded Eire. We knew the terrorists lived and trained there and the predominantly Catholic Government supported the IRA....what's the difference DB?

This whole thing stinks and has done from the start
