I think I figured out what CT's "Active in the ministry" clause is.....

Granted I haven't made any phone calls, but consider this: How can they determine you are active in the ministry?  Well, there's the letter of good standing, but what else can they make you prove?  That you have a church?  That's kind of unfair, because someone could be actively promoting their own religion but not be able to raise enough funds for a church...  I believe what it means is that 1. Your church acknowledges your ordination, 2. You are considered "In good standing" and 3. Once you become "inactive" or separated from the religion (e.g. being "de-ordained" by the church or simply denouncing your ordination) you can no longer perform marriages.   I would be shocked if someone here walked into the clerk's office and was turned away.
