I was going to post some shit about Apple's fucking iPad, a rant or two, but in this case I think adolf has it about sewed up (fucking nazis bastards, nothing ever changes, but at least it's an ethos)................

i remain entirely unconvinced by the iFad in all it's incarnations (the phone or the pad, or as i like to think the phone and the slightly bigger phone).

As far as I can tell, it's another way for Apple to fuck a stranger in the ass. Sticking to my Acer netbook for the foreseeable future when I need a small and portable device. I get a hell of a lot of use out of it.

I have the original iTouch, which is about as far as I'll go with Apple.

I miss my Asus netbook (left in a briefcase in a taxi) :-(

Yeah, losing shit like that really sucks. Hate that shit. Oh well, it's like the Stranger told the dude;

A wiser fella than m'self once said, sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes the bar, wal, he eats you.

Still sucks though.

Anyway, as for me and the iPad........ iPass.

You got any leads?

meekon5

Yes but only the ones I carry in my pockets.

Oh sorry, no, taxis disappeared half an hour before Captain Stupid here thought "I must get something from my brief........Oh shit!"

Life she is like that sometimes.

One thing is for sure, we're dependent on something today that didn't even exist 40 years ago; the almighty computer. We might even be in the matrix. But there is another point of view............

Sheldon - You know how I know that we are not in the matrix?

Leonard - No, how?

Sheldon - The food would taste better.

I love Apple products, Dude.  Sorry to hear you don't.

It's all good, dude. Some like Apple's, some don't. I have an Apple iTouch, it's righteous, but iTunes sucks dick.

Form over function.

Good marketing never made up for good technology.

There were iPad like products before Apple or Microsoft even thought of trying to hype them to us.

You'll notice the HP tablet is nine years earlier than the iPad and still has a much higher spec.

Ladies and Gentlemen you are being conned.

Apple produce good looking products for people who don't want to get caught up in the technical aspects of what they are buying.

But (IMHO) that is like just buying a car because it looks good and everyone else has one.

Again (IMHO) the next six months to a year is going to produce equipment that will make the iFad look like banging rocks together. Hold onto your money for a little while (after all who actually "needs" any of this shite any way?) and you will be using the equivalent of minority reports technology for half the price of the latest iFad product.

Why buy 3D TV's when you can plug straight into the brain.

But then everyone is entitled to their opinion.

It's all good Man, it's all good.

M5 dude, very interesting stuff, mang. Good information, cool find. All I can say to Apple owners is "sometimes you eat the apple, and sometimes, wha', the Apple eats you.

The whole iTampon thing just doesn't impress me.

Q: What can you do with a tablet?
A: Watch youtube and have access to apps.

Seems like the Motorola Atrix would be a better deal.

Regarding Meekon's comment, man, "form over function" has been Apple's MO for, well, for ever.  Remember the hockey-puck mouse?  The unusably-small F-key row on the first IMacs?

Friend of mine told me a hilarious joke, germane to this conversation:

How do you know if someone has an IPhone?

... They'll TELL you!

(It's true, too!   I used to work in a nightclub as the tech, and would always have people coming up to us in the booth to whine about the shit they dropped.  I'd ask what kind of phone they lost, and the answer was NEVER "IPhone,"  unless the INITIAL query was "Has anyone brought up an IPhone? I dropped mine!")
