Churches mean buildings, buildings mean expenses, money, structure, an organization, politics, power struggles, rules and all the shit that comes with it. ...

Oh fuck organisation, I definitely didn't sign up for that one.

I am thinking "church" may illicit the wrong idea, think retreats. I heard one idea of a place with just a bunch of hammocks and cool tunes playing, a Dude comfort station.

DB and Meekon are absolutely right, but the Dude is on a team, and does investigate, and does do what he can to save "the girl". Leagues have structure, the dude doesn't avoid it, the Dude just doesn't get lost in it.

I am not sure if or how this could be done, but I think it is an idea worth investigating. Let your self just contemplate this for a moment, if any one could have organisation with out structure, or structure with out organisation, it would be Dudeists.

Things like the Tricycle debate and the Da Stranger episode are going to increase, how do Dudes respond to these?

i'm currently working with a programmer to set up a dudeist directory so that people can meet up and find people who live around them. next step will be to set up some sort of a suggestion on how to get meetups going and maybe regular duder shabbos weekly hang outs - could be bowling, or just imbibing or maybe even the occasional off the cuff sermon. provisionally i'd like to call these "dudenominations" - sort of like local parishes that can be run informally but will be linked to the church.

what do you think of the whole duder shabbos/dudenomination idea? any ideas on how to run them? or what people might do at the meetups?

i guess each dudenomination could have its own facebook page, but i might do it with buddypress (a do it yourself social network powered by wordpress) so that the fascists don't have control of all our info.
I'll tell you what I'm blathering about...

i just think that it would be cool for us to have a structure of sorts where we are "officialy" a minister of , that way in the uk we could be officialy recognised as ministers of a religion, shit man even a garage with a bar in it would be cool if we could have it registered as a place of worship

I do have a Dudeist Temple.

Here are a few pics of my temple.

Here is one wing of the temple.

Here is the view from the temple entrance.

And finally a shot of my pew, in the temple.

Have a great day, and do yourself a favor, and find yourself a Dudeist Temple.  You can share mine if you want to.

We do not need a special church. Some whale songs, candles and a tub is good enough for me man.

I have a Facebook page for my "church" that's about as structured as i want to get. It's not the building it's the idea.

Anyone ever google map The Dudes address? 609 Venezia Ave. Venice, CA 90291 (it's on the check at the beginning of the movie). I'm supprised there isn't some kind of shrine there. Unless I don't know about it. It's like Mecca man!

That sounds too organised for me.

though I will admit to being a long time bearer of five Discordian "Pope Cards" (well actually mine are portable Erisian temples).

We're back to shrines and holy lands again which I personally think are counter productive.

I'm not against Dudes finding a quiet place for themselves but lets not start dedicating bloody shrines (or shrines with blood, now there's an idea).

IMHO of course. ;D
