Hey dudes,

Today I witnessed a very small miracle....(well it was to me)  8)

I found what I thought was a dying bumble bee in a box at work....very lethargic and on it's last legs so to speak....

Now just the other day I'd heard a radio show which said if you find such a bee try and feed it honey or sugar water and they may revive!?

Anyhoo thought I'd give it a go ...tried a spoonful of honey on the little critter....and would you bloody believe it the little thing seemed to get stuck for a few minutes....then took off into the air with a mighty Buzzz...I was so happy....a little miracle in a rather mundane day of work.

Now....onto wasps.....They will sting without warning and can be pretty aggressive even when not provoked....however "if you kill one a hundred come to the funeral" (old Norfolk saying) the reason for this is that when they die they release a pheromone that attracts other wasps...so the more you kill the more will be attracted to the spot!

I don't swat anything and am left alone!  :D Karma?

Peace to the insects dudes.  8)

Thanks for sharin dude! I too have seen the odd bumble bee looking pretty knackered, now I know what to do. Been thinking about gettin some bamboo to attach to a south facing wall in the garden as apparently bees will make a home in them, bearing in mind their decline of late, also didn't realise there were so many different types either. Hail to the bees!
It's a brave person who slacks when there's plenty to do.

Actually Bees are surviving better in British cities than they are in commercial and rural areas:

,

And there is a movement to encourage people to keep bees in cities as well:

I have been pondering getting one of these Plastic Beehives myself.

BTW you can only buy bees by exchanging them for gold traditionally, Bees are an alchemical symbol of gold.

Actually I am a great follower of instructables.com. Now not everything is any good on the site but just found Bee Hive in a Bucket.

Get out there Dudes and save the Bees.

I believe that the American commercial Bee industry is suffering from similar problems.
