I would like to nominate for Dude status "The King of the Surf Guitar" Mr. Dick Dale.
Not only is he a great guitarist, but also an avid surfer.  His song "Miserlou" was used as the theme song for the movie "Pulp Fiction", he is also known as "The Father of Heavy Metal" (Guitar Player magazine) http://www.dickdale.com

i had the ultimate pleasure to see him play in Edinburgh in 1996 and after the brilliant gg he sat down and spoke to us for over an hour while the gear all got packed away, i gave him a gift of a skull stash ring which he said he would keep as he never ever gave away gifts, i got his autograph on a rizla packet and one of his many used plectrums which was actually melted at the end of it, he was really interesting to talk to and had some really cool views on the enviroment and the U.S. government at the time............... so Dick Dale you are a dude ;D

Now I've never been to Edinburgh, and I've never met the King of Surf Music, but now that is a dude we should have a special coffee can for if you know what I mean.
The music, instrumentals I have heard, have parful juju.
and lets not forget, lets not fucking forget that um geographically Orange County's Dick Dale would have been neighbors with the dude, or his lovin parents.  He would have definitely stayed out of Malibu. Am I right?
Is this your only ID?
