Title: What Would the Dude Eat?
Post by: FuckinA on February 16, 2010, 02:44:08 AM
Well, I had a vision, man. We all agree that we know what we should drink, oath soda's and Caucasians. But what's also important, what should we eat, in order to be good dudeist. Lot's of religions have rules around eating. We dudeists, I assume, don't like these rules to much (and if you do, that's fine, man).

So: post all your favorite dudeist recipes here, and help each other to eat like a dude!

OK, I'm a big hamburger fan, so here one of my favorites!

- Make a big beef patty (8 ounce will be fine). Mix it with an egg (or half an egg).
Make it thick and round.

- Split the (biggest you can find) burger bun, and toast both sides for a bit in your grill or frying pan. Put them aside.

- Put the patty in a grill pan (or a frying pan) with LOTS of butter. First cook it up high at both ends, if it's a bit brown, turn the heat down till it's done.

- Next the sauce: it's simple and very good: 2/3 of mayonnaise, 1/3 of chilisause, add 2 teaspoons of parsley, mix it good. Your sauce is done.

- When the burgers are ready (they should be by know) add salt and pepper (doing it before you fry 'em, the salt will dry your burger out, and you want it juicy I suppose.

- Add stuff to your liking: first the sauce, then a few ring slices unions (fry it a bit if you like). Add two slices of a pickle, slice of tomato (good with the sauce man!), a bit of salad (not to much or everything will slide of ya burger, man).

- Open a beer (or mix a white Russian) and kick back and feed.

Now I can't clearly recall and will refresh my memory later but as my small brain will have it, I think only Donny and Walter are seen eating the actuall in and out burgers.

Now as a non cow or pig or other four legged animal eating dudeist (vegetarian is not the prefered nomenclature as I do eat chicken) I reckon I can say that it is against my religion to eat burgers,  :)

Although in the past I'm sure your recipe would have found favour or perhaps flavour with me.  8)

Peace dude.

Well I reckon I make up for a few vegetarians in the parlance of our times.

I am a carnivore, and try not to eat anything else.
Have you ever heard the phrase "thats not food, thats what food eats!"
well that applies to me and the woman wearing my robe sometimes, as well as the little Lebowski in the family.
Around our house bacon occasionally serves the role of currency. And a slow cooker is the great equalizer, brisket=top sirloin on a good day. bacon-wrapped top sirloin is a bonus.
And a good day to you Sir!

Damn, that's a brilliant quote! Have you heard this one: "Waiter, there are plants in my food!"

The Dude eats bar nuts.  and the ice in his white russians.  I'm personally a big fan of hash browns.  take a fist sized red potato, and skin it.  melt butter in a medium sized cast iron pan, and grate the potato into the pan.  strategically place little pads of butter ontop of the hashed potato.  then run a pad of butter around the side of the pan twice.  get more butter if need be.  once the bottom has browned to the desired shade of brown, flip it.  this may take practice.  then after a few minutes, check the other side, and plate it when you think its done.

Thats interesting, we see little eating in the movie.  The nihilists order cakes, & peeksinblanket, Those good burgers after visiting Larry, but not much product placement if you catch where I'm going with this...
Ralph's got a bit of mileage, and Kahlua, Folgers.  Hmm this is a lot of threads to have in my old head

could the dude be a vegetarian?  maybe that's why he didn't get a burger from the in and out.  there are a lot of vegetarian japanese dishes.

nonsense, studious work and attention to detail are important. Dragon will roll his way into the semis.

I don't know that the In-N-Out burger cups are  identified in any way. The jury is out on that one. Maybe Strumpet can drop by and get one, we'll get a couple of detectives working on it at the crime lab.

I think semi-vegetarianism is the thing if you eat chicken only.

I call myself flexitarian, as I still eat some pork. When I can choose I eat little meat, mainly that chicken, yes, and a lot of vegetables, beans and groats. For instance mushrooms with groats and beetroots. Or broccoli with an egg and some potatoes. Or some vegetable soup with beans. Oatmeal with plums (not prunes) and grapes. When I visit someone, I eat what they give me. Burgers, meat jelly and all that stuff. This way I can eat almost everywhere, with vegans and meat-eaters. No food allergies so far.

Well, perhaps a roasted rat would be some problem. ;D

I try to keep it super simple, I eat animal products only. Keeps my mind limber, no planning, keeps me in great shape for bowling and dudeiation. That's just like my opinion man.

I prefer to kill what I eat.
Kill it. Gut it.
Drag it's lifeless body back home and derive sustainance from it's flesh.
Old school.

Not sure if you're being serious, but I'd love to hunt my own food. Have shot at an occasional wild turkey but never got one.

Cheers!

Serious.
It's a matter of being in touch with our natures.
We are literally supposed to be hunters.
We evolved as such. It's our place.
Nature demands balance.
We defy the balance and create huge problems.
Pollution, pandemics, the climate crisis. All inevitable.
Human arrogance.
We don't live in balance with nature.
And so we fight to hold it back.
We end up with abominations like factory farming and genetic engineering.
We pile way more people into areas than the land can naturally support.
So we have to haul everything burning fossil fuels and fouling the air and water.
We try to hold back nature but gradually we fail.
New diseases. Unexpected effects causing other unexpected effects.
Like dominos.
We think we have control but the world is far too complex.
It's whack mole. The problems come faster and faster.
Nature demanding balance.
Eventually the levee breaks.
Sooner or later.
It is absolutely 100% guaranteed.
Sure as the sun rises and sets.
You can't cheat the mountain pilgrim.
