Voltaire 'Candide' and 'Zadig'

The first one appeared here already, the second one may be a bit less popular. Both of these stories tell the reader to go with the flow, as the human being is prone to most irrational happenings in their life that nevertheless may teach them something - if they survive.
I really like Voltaire's half-serious attitude towards deities, religion and fate. Some call him an atheist but I would say he is closer to the Chinese idea of heaven. Anyway, I read him with pleasure.

For those who like to watch oldies that are hard to find - there is a 1970 movie with Gerard Depardieu 'Les Aventures de Zadig', where he plays the main character. Watched it some time ago as a file purchased at the Institut National de l'Audiovisuel website.
