Obviously The Big Lebowski is that film the makes-up the core of The Holy Dudeist Canon, but I'm wondering if there should be at least a trinity of films that we can refer to for different levels of dudeist spiritual lessons.

My mind isn't really limber enough to think of what other two films besides TBL could possibly be incorporated in a Cinematic Trinity, but one movie that does come to mind that merits a discussion and consideration is another Jeff Bridges film: The Amatures. What does everyone think? I only saw it once, but it seemed pretty dude to me in some way or what-have-you. This may be a stretch, but it almost seemed like a sequel of sorts involving the little Lebowski.

Somehow I find myself saying Bad Santa although clearly there
is no literal connection.

I mean clearly the santa is the ultimate expression of the "fuck it".
It's just a matter of extent. More of a "fuck everything".

Which really brings us to the nut. Although there is no particular proof in
the movie I've always felt the Dude had scruples. The ups and downs,
strikes and gutters hadn't jaded him. His fuck it was a form of empowerment.
While the santa's fuck it was despair.

Greetings Dudes.  I would like to submit the approval of the movie "The Tao of Steve" to The Holy Dudest Canon.  This movie reeks of dudeliness.  The main character himself, Dex, is a righteous dude of the highest caliber.  A fat, laid back, pot smoking kindergarten teacher who quotes Lao Tzu, Kierkegaard, Zen, and all other sorts of things with great tenacity.  In fact, he combines all these beliefs with a splash of Western transcendentalist thought and his own brand of coolness to make a religious system that, hey, just works.  Sound familiar?

I would love to describe the plot of the movie, but think other people do it quite better.

Now you're talking all masonic tradition like stuff, I don't need more rituals other than waking up and doin my thing. But hey, if that's your deal, than go for it.

Definitely the tao of steve but doesnt the ending seems to suggest that he has to reject some of his philosophy to get the girl.   Trivia: The college they attended is based on St. John's College of Santa Fe..where apparently one can get a BA in a Great Books seminar in which every year includes a huge list of classic and modern works. Sounds very Dudelike...just ya know..abide in books.

I would think the accepting Dudeism, as based on a film, opens itself to embrace other examples of the Dudeist theology with open arms. I feel this dichotomy is what makes Dudeism actually viable today. We can derive a better understanding of reality from the from that which we imagine. In this we can even agree that Jesus was most likely the dude for his time and place.
i would have to think on what i believe might display such worthy example.

A common theme I see here is questioning conventional idealogy and freeing your mind from those who reactionaries who would seek to blind it. One iconic movie expresses this best. I nominate "The Matrix" for inclusion in the Dudeist canon.
