You could say that this is one of the grandaddies of what is now known as a "48 Hour Film Challenge".
It was filmed over twenty years ago in Venice, California.
What makes this film stand out is the fact that it was produced and directed by Jeff Dowd.
If you're a fan of "The Big Lebowski" then you know that the character "The Dude" was based on
Jeff Dowd, so I guess you could say that this is a piece of "Dude" ephemera.
Other notables in the film are:

KATE MULGREW - The French Wench
RICKY JAY - The Magician

PLOT SYNOPSIS:
Captain Cook is befriended by a fur trader on the night before a naval attack and the two enter a French Canadian lodge crawling with booze and broads.
The fur trader tells him to get rid of his British military uniform and "pretend he is Swedish".
All he has to do is nod and say "okey dokey" a lot.
A lusty French Wench has eyes for him.
Carousing and merriment ensues.
Suddenly he's spotted by two guards that tried to kill him earlier. He dons his coonskin cap disguise and beats a hasty retreat with his French Wench to the barn out back
where she becomes his "f------g lady friend"(a Dude term)....The End.

Now that "The Big Lebowski" enjoys cult film status and Jeff Dowd is venerated as "The Dude" I guess the only thing I can say is that I like the way it "ties the room together".
It's my connection to "The Dude".
