Standing up to Real Reactionaries

Hey dudes,
This is my first post; I?ve come to this forum to read dudely advice for a while now, but this time I could use from encouragement from my compeers.
I?m really gettin? tired of working for the man, I do my 40 hours and it takes so much time away from driving around, bowling, and the occasional acid flashback that I?m getting real uptight. And now my boss (a real human paraquat) is demanding overtime from all us at work. I?ve been thinking about my life, and I want to change the way I do things, get rid of the extra ?stuff? that?s holding me down and focus on life, my special lady, all that. So I?ve decided I?m going to refuse the overtime hours. Thing is, it really makes me nervous to say no to the boss man, he can be a real asshole. I don?t care what they do to me, I?ve got a backup plan should I get canned, but I could really use an encouragement from some likeminded dudes.
From now on, my time is mine, for me and my special lady; I can?t be toiling away at the hamster wheel.

Welcome to the forum, I?m new myself.

It?s great you have a backup plan, as that makes it more difficult for your boss to try to threaten you.  Just tell him you don?t want to do the over time, and if he keeps asking, just keep saying no.  Give a short explanation if you like the first time.  Best advice, just tell the truth, you wanna spend more time with your lady friend.  If he starts making your life unbearable, then go with the backup plan.

Remember, nobody ever lies on their death bed wishing they?d spent more time at work.
