Would opening a physical church and having a true congregation be viable? I know that to be recognized 501c3 one would have to incorporate and then file the 1023 (recognition) form, file yearly taxes and what-have-you.

If one were to open a church, would the incorporated name be [Town/City] Church of the Latter-Day Dude? Or, Church of the Latter-Day Dude of [Town/City]?

I'm playing around with the idea, but it would start as more of a meetup/ministry type organization, then if the congregation grows it would develop into a physical, registered church.

Thoughts?

I've been playing with the idea of some sort of dudeist type church, too. From what I remember we couldn't necessarily use that name unless it's an official branch.

But I'll double check at some point.

It would most likely begin as a ministry of dudeism. But a verified Church of Latter-Day Dude would be the ultimate goal. Possibly have a higher rank that needs to be obtained before a true branch could be ran?
