So I am kind of a youngster, about 16. I only recently came across Dudeism, and even more recently got ordained as a priest. But I genuinely think that this way of life helps me to chill the fuck out, and abide. The problem is, my dear and loving mother doubts that it's even an honest religion. She thinks that this is akin to the meta-religions like Pastafarianism. I've tried telling her otherwise, showing her writings of this, all the credible info. I can, and it isn't enough. She mocks my Priesthood, and the validity of my choice to be Dudeist. What should I do? Abide? Or try to convince her of the good that Dudeism can do?

You are a very young guy, you will understand that what it seems correct today will be incorrect tomorrow, because your thoughts and ideology's will probably chance dramatically.

Also, is very normal that your mother don't consider this a religion, because no one considered Christianity a religion centuries ago, they were beggars, delinquents, blasphemers. Also is very difficult for your mother to understand and accept, even for me to be honest, this a true religion because is based on a movie character, based on another man that some people consider crazy.

Also is even more difficult for your mother to accept that you follow something that propagates certain aspect that were assembled to bums, vagabonds. Your mother want's what every mother want's, that you get a good job, buy a good house, a nice car, a nice trophy wife a bunch of children's and pay your bills on time. Maybe that's not what we choose. We are black sheep's from a capitalist world, blame who?

Is very normal to be honest, and she will not considered this a religion unless she throw everything that she lived to the garbage can and start over, which will not happen. What does it matter is what you think and how can you live with that.

Now don't you go through life worrying about whether somebody like you or not, if they are your friends, if they aren't! That's the best advice I can give you.

Your parents putted you into this world, that's the best thing they ever did for you, they have the obligation to take care of you, your job is to listen and respect there decisions.

We are not wise, if we were we should be somewhere else.
