Hey dudes, longtime dudeist but new member to the forum. I was wondering what the difference between the groups (dude and amateur) are.

I think it has to do with your participation.  After commenting and posting a while you naturally become "Dude".  It means very little... just a way to see who's new to the conversation.

Welcome by the way... the bar's over there.

Right on, I appreciate it. And thanks man  :)

JBone that's all it is.

After the prerequisite number of posts your title changes from amateur to Dude.

Originally there were all sorts of levels leading to Dudhha, or something like that. There was some extensive discussion on the forum and it was decided that Amateur and Dude would be the only more Dudeist ways to title people. I think the Amateur level was left because the site does get some fly-by-night individuals who just come then go.
