That sucks, man. Not sure of your particulars or if you're able, but I've gotten to the point where I just do my best and "fire" clients if they become a consistent source of irrational problems and refuse to make good on their frivolities.

Example: Had one client recently try to write-off about half of a $1,300.00 bill without providing any details on what they thought was wrong. I went through the bill myself, found the entries which were likely the source of the write-off (at least based on the math adding up to the amount they adjusted), and showed them why the bill was entirely proper and, in fact, quite conservative and to their benefit. Asked them to pay or get back to me with a clarification. They didn't. So I "fired" them. I struggled with it for a while. You don't stay in business getting rid of clients. But, once I made the decision a wave of relief warshed over me, darker than a black steer's tookus on....ahhh, there I go again.
