How do you dudes keep calm when in stressful situations? I'll admit that personality-wise, that I can be pretty uptight, but I'm trying to mellow out, and I have mellowed out a lot over the years, but I still find myself being bothered by small, insignificant shit. Any advice on how to not sweat the small stuff?

Avoiding stressful situations works for me.
When that's not possible I find that bullshit doesn't move very fast.
My bike can out run it easy.
"No bar too far" is the applicable saying.

Out here we are all his children

Don't sweat your sweating of the small stuff. A lot of that noise is just involuntary blathering in your brain. Don't create a meta sweat, just recognize your inner Walter and speak to him like the Dude would.
The dad abides.

Speak to your inner Walter like the Dude would. ...I like your style man.

Yeah man, we've all got an inner Donnie (innocence, passivity), Walter (experience, aggression), and Dude (the middle way, balance). Got to celebrate and recognize all of them. What a boring story the Dude would have without a Walter in his life. We're lucky to have the whole durn trinity in our minds.

Dude, trust me when I say, I know exactly what you are going through. I say that because I am the same!

What's helped me cope with my Autism/Asperger's Syndrome since a very young age is this:

1. Get yourself a decent pair of noise-cancelling headphones from your local electronics/movie/music store.
2. Create a playlist on your mp3 player or what-have-you filled with music you find relaxing to listen to.
3. When in a stressful situation, excuse yourself in whatever way you can, then find somewhere quiet, put on your headphones and listen to the playlist.

I don't know if it'll work for you, but I hope it does.

Abidingly,
Pete Arronax

If it's not something truly, monumentally, eternally important, then say "Ahhh, fuck it," walk away, and re-center your focus by doing something  more constructive and/or enjoyable.

If it is that important, then immerse yourself in it and fight, claw, bite, and penetrate until the problem has been resolved or you have been mortally wounded and/or fired.
